right by the front passenger corner. a few people have mentioned power steering fluid reservoirs catching on fire, but I don't understand what could have started and sustained the fire up until that point... Unless it cracked and poured on the header or something.

HID'S? is your ballast over there secure and away from elements? PS is a possibility though. the fire would be sustained my the crazy temps under the hood and flammable fluids everywhere covered in rubber

I did the install of the head unit in the dash... that was as simple as pulling the old unit out and connecting the adaptor harness and plugging it in to the new headunit.

how charred are your passanger side headers? there are two things that could've caused the fire,
1) a flamable liquid hitting something very hot like headers.
2)electrical short where the wires caught fire and the heat from them opened a line or container holding flamable liquid

LD, A claims adjuster will most likly look at the car and call bullshit. Look at all the mods you have done. Maybe the duct tape caught on fire, who knows! regardless, goodluck!

doesn't matter mods or not, as long as he didn't set the car on fire himself then the claim would still be paid regardless of mods and such. lucky this happened on a road and not a track, that would be a different story. Insurance companies assume risk especially since FL does not require inspections. now all his mods will most likely not be covered unless he had the additional mods covered

unless it happened at a Sebring driving school -- I was told by a Sebring tracker who works in the insurance business that Sebring is not considered a "racing" school but a "driving" school, and therefore claims are covered.

Could be B.S., but the source is pretty credible.

And, I wouldn't trust ANY insurance company, even a "reputable" one. Lawyering up is always smart.
