Sorry to hear about your suby LD. Mike and Bobby tould me about this weekend. Well, mine is up for sale. The black one that Mike built. You swap your drivetrain over and you would have a nasty hybid. Let me know if I can help. Best wishes
yeahhh that kind of sucked. not really sure what happened. saw some white smoke, thought the engine popped (even though i was just cruising at 60mph on the crosstown with the cruise control on), looked at the oil pressure gauge and it was fine, put the clutch in and was trying to coast to the next exit to pull off safely, then saw more smoke and darker and a worse smell... Immediately pulled over and was trying to figure it out when someone drove by slowly and said "dude get out, your car is on fire". Called 911 and had a fire truck there within minutes. Only problem was they took like 10 minutes to get the hose out and put on all their damn gear. By the time they got it out it had spread from just that front passenger side to a bigger area.
not really sure what caused it. No custom wiring over there or exposed wires at all really. If a wire had shorted there would be a weld and there were none. There really isn't anything over there to sustain a fire either... overall just pretty damn baffled.
