Today I looked at ordering a water temp gauge because I think my stock one sucks total ass.... And I looked in to ordering energy suspension bushings for mostly everything on the front end and 50% of the rear end.... Should be placing the order probably Thursday or Friday....

 

glad i never pay for that crap.
only fluid i ever pay for is oil, because i wont use whatever cheap shit we have at work.
i had to buy a quart of atf for the bmw one day and couldnt believe how much that shit is either. fuck all that.

can anyone give me an actual real answer as to if its a good idea to run delvac/rotella oil in my car over the conventional shit ive always run?

 

^ I'm assuming you're talking about the bimmer. I've heard mixed reviews about Rotella. It is full of detergents and stuff that will eat up all the sludge, and crap that builds up in older engines. I would use it for one or two clean out cycles, and then switch to a quality synthetic. (Mobil 1) I'm sure Marshall could tell you all about Rotella, he swears by it. Keep in mind that sr knocked though... I have no idea if it had anything to do with running Rotella oil or not. My Dad always used BMW oil in his 5 series cars when they were newer and penzoil later in life.

 

ive only changed the oil in the bmw once, and i used castrol high milage, since thats what the former owner used. im talking about the s13. i just had the valve cover off, and its by no means sludged, kinda dark, but looks about the same it always has.

 

ive used rotella in all my motors except the sr tho i might use 15w30 mobil 1 syn this time round

OT: radiator is in, need a lower hose and need my hotpipe chopped and rotated 180 for my intake to clear

 

^^ you run conventional oil in your sr? I've always used Mobil 1, and every time I remove my valve cover it's light amber colored inside with no sludge or hard deposits anywhere. I've always been curious about Rotella and the additives, but I'm more of the "if the formula works, why change it?" kind of guys.

 

yeah, ive run either castrol or valvoline conventional since day one, usually whichever is on sale.

 

the benefit to rotella is that is has some of the old school friction modifiers that most newer oils don't have so it keeps the motor alive longer. if you want to go all out for oil get Brad Penn oil. its the same as the old green kendall oil. one of the best oils to use in race motors and anything you beat on religiously.
