Datsun Dreaming
KA wise I alway run what ever 10w30 there is and some STP oil additive because that stuff is awesome.
SR I haven't decided but probably a decent 10w30 synthetic since i'm starting fresh and I dont put that many miles on my car a year.

the benefit to rotella is that is has some of the old school friction modifiers that most newer oils don't have so it keeps the motor alive longer. if you want to go all out for oil get Brad Penn oil. its the same as the old green kendall oil. one of the best oils to use in race motors and anything you beat on religiously.
only reason im thinking more of delvac over rotella is that i would never buy shell oil, but would certainly buy mobil.
any thoughts on one vs. the other?

Pretty sure that part of the rotella thing has changed, theres a thread or two around about it, it was the zinc that helped with things, and due to most new diesels even having catalytic converters, and the zinc damaging them, its been removed also, apparently the old guys stuck to flat tappet cams used to be all over the stuff.
Its still quality oil, and usually $10.50/11.50 at walmart, and each of mine did just fine on it till the oil pump pickup didnt help get the shit into the pump...
Current motor will also live on rotella 15/40 and pureone filters
im not familiar with the Delvac so i cannot say either way. I do like mobil 1 and have used it in pretty much anything of worth that I have owned. where you primarily street drive your car with the occasional auto-x event Mobil 1 will serve you perfectly and never give you a problem.
if you are still N/A A-ron, you are just throwing money away, I change mine every 6K and its still brown and clean, and is not burned at all.
Quality synthetics are designed to be changed every 6-9K miles under normal driving conditions.
