Ultimately something quality, changed frequently is going to work just fine.
As far as weight goes, i'll keep sticking to my overly "thick" 15-40 rotella most likely, for most of the year, generally its HOT here, I usually switch to something lighter when its cold out, usually castrol GTX

Samco hoses come in black as well. But OEM hoses are fine, no need to throw money away if you don't have to.
