Quest alternator doesnt fit

Anyone know of a 4 rib belt thats the same as an SR that I can get at the parts store? If I can find one about 1" longer I think I can make it work.

 

I told you it wouldnt work off the shelf, like a KA - Quest would.

Tell them how many ribs, and how long you need it and they can search for it.

If you find a way to make the quest alt work, without alot of mods let me know. I am down to run one also.

 

To make my quest alternator fit I had to drill the upper bolt holes, slot my bracket out a little further, and trim the alternator casing a little. My car has been running fine with a three rib belt for 9 months. (no slippage) The only thing that freaked me out a bit was how close the pulley is to the lower radiator hose, but that's nothing a giant zip tie didn't fix... What exactly isn't fitting on your sr?

 

SR is way different, and the pulley is offset further out so I'd have to at least swap the SR pulley onto it. The upper tensioner is about 2.5" away from where it bolts into the alternator. So I'd have to make a bracket of some sort to connect the two and get a longer belt to accomdate it. Its pretty simple to make the bracket, all I need to do is find the correct belt and it should work.

If it doesn't I'll just yank the one off my KA and use that.

 

You can see in this picture that the bracket is a lot different.
