I sort of liked those KDW's when I had them on my car. I think the pair Dan owned were the ones he got from my FN's IIRC.

They were decent, but nothing I would feel completely comfortable in. I would break them loose really easily upfront, but this was way back when. But for an occasional autocross and daily driver they would do good since they were quiet and comfortable compared to other tires I have owned. Aren't they crazy overpriced still?

So far Invo > RE070 > KDW of the sets I have owned.

EDIT: I used to call them the fire tread tires when I first got them.

 

They're decent. About the same as an RT615 in terms of grip, maybe slightly less but they're not as loud and they do very well in the rain. Steering is crisp and responsive. Problem is they don't take heat as well as the newer tires so they can grease over if you're not paying attention to them. They seem to run a really soft compound.

I'd say do it If you can get the second pair for cheap. Its better than K104's IMO but they're not going to last that forever, but thats what the E30 is for anyways.

I might end up ditching all 4 of my NT05's next month instead of just two, so your more than welcome to try the front tires out. They'll still have more than enough life on them to be decent at 4-5 auto-x events. The grip from those things is insane.

but i can get a pair used for 130 that are still decent, and didnt pay for the other two.
so, 130 for a decent set of tires. i know they arent the best, but i figure theyve gotta be worth 130 more than what im running now

Oh ps the NT05's smell like total shithole. haha I dont know what is in the compound but it smells totally gross. Its mostly gone away but if your near the tire for what ever reason you'll notice it.

david, if you really want that wheel, although lame imo(even though i rock a grant atm), you can save money and not buy that hub bs. you can use your factory wheel hub by cutting the spokes off of it, drilling out the rosette welds on the bracket, and then i used a chisel to break it loose after i drilled them out. and im then i had to drill a new hole in the 5 bolt grant thing so the holes in the hub would line up, and 2 m10 bolts bolted it together, and done.

My brother ran KDWs on his car and I've gotta say they're the noisiest tires I've heard this side of Super Swampers on the highway. Hopefully they fixed that from a few years back.
