What was the import car scene like in the 90's?

Wow, Miami Subs... lol. I remember those days. We all use to go to Setzers show up in N. Dale then head down to Subs then finally to Gandy till the wee hours of the morning.

Then that damn "movie" came out and ruined it all.

People are only thinking about drag racing. I was racing (autocross) my Rabbit GTi in 1989 and then road racing my 77 Scirocco and 90 Corrado in mid 90's. Imports have been in the racing scene for many, many years - just not drag racing. My 77 Scirocco had a 16v engine and transmission swap - Mini me swaps were real popular in the early Honda days.

Not my Scirocco, but one that was raced in Europe in the late 70's

I remember team green, glenn's red crx and slim's crx beeing quick from a drag racing stand point and this was in the late part of the 90's... maybe 97 or 98.

240's weren't real popular until later, when SR swaps became plentiful.

your a moron
your so ignorant its sad your basing import only on hondas/acuras and most of the cars were made here to start with, plus lambos are imported, so are bmws, you got the skylines gt-r not the other crappy taxi one, and hell you even got the real boosted hondas that will do 11s or less on the track so stfu

In Ny there was. Imports outnumbered domestics ridiculously b/c no one wanted to sit in traffic with a gas guzzling v8. Street racing on Rockaway Blvd, Flatlands Blvd, The Conduit, Van Wyck Espwy and Long Island Espwy was an every night thing. Growing up I lived next door to an awesome rotary engine mechanic. Hes the reason I got in to cars altogether. I helped my brother's friend do his h22 swap in his cb7(my first swap) when I was 13. I miss those days.
