From a historical perspective.......
Looking over the history of the Tampa car scene as covered by this thread
at Tampa Racing.com , I had a few thoughts. Today being in 2015, probably we
have been influenced by 7 movies of Fast and Furious.

Ten years ago the original Fast and Furious was about street racing in California, but
around Fast 5, they changed it to an action-adventure series and the latest is almost
impossible-to-survive car stunts. ....driving off cliffs.....driving up a pile of debris to
crash into a helicopter....etc.

His last sentence is worth noting...probably we (and all) as the upcoming generation of car
enthusiasts, have always taken hand-me-down cars and due to little money, did the
modifying ourselves. This trend goes back to the "hot rods" (now called Rat Rods) of the
50's.

I look at this car, and it's not a bad looking car for 2015 and these days it
would be in one of the top clubs in the Tampa car scene as covered by Tampa Racing.com .

We look at the multi colors and today's haters would say negative stuff. I was talking
to some VW enthusiasts at a car meet in the Tampa car scene as covered by Tampa Racing.com
and he said that was actually a stock VW paint job and the car is very collectable now!

Tampa Racing To The TOP!

A little update for people who say the import scene is dead.......
There were over 2,000 cars at Destination Daytona in November 2015 about a month ago.
The show/meet was called Simply Clean.

Last year in Downtown Orlando the cops estimated 100,000 people attended Mystery Meat 4
Cars started coming in at 4Am and parking under Interstate 4. I was lucky to find a space
at 7AM.

Both those shows/meets a few years ago had just a few hundred cars.

I went to the last Sibling Rivalry meet/show in Jacksonville. We took up 6 floors
of a parking garage and on my way home on Sunday stopped in at Old Town Kissimmee
for the annual CRX and friends car meet..........In JAX, we did not have the drifting
like they had in Fast and Furious 3/Tokyo Drift.

 

The Tampa car scene has changed since your time, and my guess is that you folks have changed also.
Tampa Racing has changed. The buttheads who insulted members and drove people away
left to start their own site, and even better news is that the buttheads took the jerks with them.
Tampa Racing has National Sponsors and drama is no longer appreciated.

If you were looking for the same old stuff, it's not here.
I hope you will look around a bit and stop by more often.

On August 29, 2015 Tampa Racing set the record of 2,668 viewers at the same time.
Another site claiming to be the latest and greatest in the Tampa car scene has had only 90
viewers at their peak, and almost no one today. The detractors of Tampa Racing will tell
you that it was me looking at 2,668 forums at the same time.
.........but the buttheads always get it wrong. lol

 

As for Tampa Racing.com being the main car enthusiast source in the state of Florida,
there are hundreds of people reading Tampa Racing.com 's calendar of events every night.
