Do you respect bikers?

I don't have a bike actually... Not yet anyways.
But if you compare a bike in a fire lane as opposed to a car, the car is more dangerous when in a firelane.

On the bike over heating, can't say I have ever heard of anyone with a properly running bike having it over heat just because.
Bikes tend to overheat more then cars, are you disagreeing with this? Your telling me that at very slow stop and go traffic in 90+ degree weather your bike isn't running hot? Hell I have ridden my friends gsx600 and sat at a stop sign for 30-40 seconds and literally watch the bike rise nearly 5 degrees, then lower as soon as I started riding again.
And about the safety of splitting lanes in STOPPED traffic to get the front, ill let the DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION speak on my behalf.
The study, commissioned by the U.S. Department of Transportation, concluded that lane splitting is safer than sitting in stop-and-go traffic, where bikers are far more likely to be "sandwiched'' between two cars.
"For a motorcyclist, that's the safest place to be (Front of the light),'' Professor Harry Hurt said shortly after releasing his study. ``A lot of people think it's a hazard, but the cold, hard facts are that it's not.''
Motorcyclists like lane splitting for one simple reason: It whittles down the time spent sitting in traffic.

What do you think happens more, a car slamming into whatever is in front of them during rush hour because they weren't paying attention, or the rare case of someone tailgating you cuz you went to the front?
So have fun sitting in the back of stopped traffic, where its more dangerous to get hit from behind then it is to go to the front.
ps: I only think lane splitting in completely stopped traffic at red lights is justified.

Try looking it up.. Less deaths as only in rare instances will you have someone come up on your ass after the light turns green..

Abstract: (1) All motorcycles are entitled to full use of a lane and no motor vehicle shall be driven in such manner as to deprive any motorcycle of the full use of a lane. This subsection shall not apply to motorcycles operated two abreast in a single lane. (3) No person shall operate a motorcycle between lanes of traffic or between adjacent lines or rows of vehicles.
Oh and D.O.T. states
LANE SHARING
Cars and motorcycles need a full lane to operate safely. Lane sharing is usually prohibited.
Riding between rows of stopped or moving cars in the same lane can leave you vulnerable to the unexpected. A hand could come out of a window; a door could open; a car could turn suddenly. Discourage lane sharing by others. Keep a center-portion position whenever drivers might be tempted to squeeze by you. Drivers are most tempted to do this:
- In heavy, bumper-to-bumper traffic.
- When they want to pass you.
- When you are preparing to turn at an intersection.
- When you are getting in an exit lane or leaving a highway.
BTW when you get a bike and ride a bike other then every now and then and AFTER you get your endorsement and take the course required to get your Motorcycle licence, come talk to me. Ahhh and heres you sign........

What I find funny of this thread is that everyone is fighting over stupid shit. The problem with this thread is bikers get more way then cars do but then they want respect. Here's the problem, lets say all of you who answered my questions with honesty. Your that 10%. 90% of the other bike riders do... this is why most people on the road pay mine to something else and think "oh there goes another one of those bike riders". I'm aware of bike riders all the time. As far as the fire lane goes. Shit if a car can't parked there... a bike shouldn't either. Why should fire fighters go out of their way to move your property that shouldn't have been parked there to begin with. If I was a fire fighter I wouldn't just move it, I would have it towed. Its called a Fire Lane... Do Not Park... for a reason and your full aware of this.
If your bike is overheating turn it off. Its that simple. People do that with cars then start the car back up and go. Just because your bike is overheating doesn't mean you have the RIGHT to go inbetween cars. Thats like saying a car thats overheating can use the emergency lane to pass cars.

Florida LAW says....

all i want is for people to pay attention when they drive. its not that hard to actually look at the road. i know your all a bunch of babe magnets and the swarm you, 24/7 they blow up your cell phone so its hard to watch the road. and its a must for you to play you music lound enough that i can hear in through my helmet 10 cars away.
