I'd tell our customers to go to a mall, Wal-Mart, Best Buy or McDonalds. It's that or just drop the car off and we'll call you when it's done. My job was to make the car awesome, not do a dog and pony show for them while they wait.

Maybe I'm just an asshole.

This greatly depends on where the shop is located. The customer may not have a ride to leave and drive any distance just to get food/drinks. If the shop is near a mall or something, that's different. Otherwise, it's much better to have an area that allows customers to be at least somewhat comfortable. In this day and age if customer service isn't important to you, then you can forget about having a business.

Other than what Joe mentioned about the misc. hardware needed, gaskets, gas (im iffy on that one) etc etc, keeping parts in stock is expensive and usually doesn't pay off. Look into the pricing on the lounge and running costs. If you make it so nice that you spend out the ass and have too many things running to where the electrical bill will be through the roof, then it won't be worth the extra "fluff" I actually already have a written plan on a customer area that includes all the ideas listed here plus some that would really put it over the top. Unfortunately you would have to buy these off of me... They aren't free. One small thing I will give you now is that you should provide a GOOD free wi-fi and with that you can transform the area into more than you are thinking... but expansion idea on that is also a money-talks secret.

q16,c16, vp import m1 methanol, eneos motor oil, aem uego replacement sensors, e85, mbc's, spark plugs all heat ranges. This is all stuff that people use regularly. I personally would get this stuff from import image to save the 1 hour drive but these are things people always need. As far as stocking parts......I dont know of many shops that actually stock parts on the shelves other then the ones i mentioned and a few more

lol, I just saw that LD pretty much said the same thing I was saying. 99% of the time parts is going to be a waste of $$$. You will most likely never be able to beat the prices these internet vendors like Import Image are able to provide. Reason being is that they have been in bussiness longer, they move hundreds of thousands of dollars of parts and therefore can give the BEST prices.
