Of course I think having good, reliable techs, along with excellent customer service is the most important. But I think you need to provide an image to show you are serious. I'm not saying to bling the shop out like crazy, just make it clean. Don't have old parts scattered across the entire floor of the shop, oil and coolant everywhere, blah blah blah. These are things I look for long with the customer service personally. Another thing is the bathrooms. The only bathroom I've yet to see very clean is S&R's bathroom. If I'm waiting for hours to get my car tuned, I find it cleaner to just go in back of the building. Just my thoughts.

Customer service is still most important.

- Don't let people that aren't waiting on their cars hangout in the lobby or just come in to say what's up.

- Work out some way to let people watch their cars being worked on in a safe area where it wont interfere with insurance crap.

- Take care of the hangout spot. Some shops I have been to have months of garbage left over and movies, magazines, etc.. were scattered everywhere.

I think your off to a great start. I really respect you reaching out and getting people's opinions because that form of customer service will make you stand out and get ahead.

This is what I am trying to do. Thank you.

As for parts. I am not going to stock Exhaust and what not. Josh is going to be one of my lead vendors so that is taken care of.

I am going to stock MBC's, race gas, oils (I am a Amsoil vendor), and all misc things. Since there is a dyno in house I will stock things that may go bad on the dyno. Since this shop is geared towards specific cars I will have such things as Coil packs, O2 sensors, of course widebands and boost guages, fuel pumps, and some misc things. T-clamps, different size couplers.

I have a pipe bender so I will have up to 3 inch pipe available also.

absolutely the worst idea posted in this thread. You know the reason starbucks is successful? here's a hint, its not the coffee... You want your place to be a place where people want to be and hang out. If they can bring their friends to check out the shop and just have it feel comfortable then that is the best way to get business.

Given all of this, I still think you are going to fail. I wish you luck and its good to see someone try, but I would save your money because you are about to lose a shit ton of it.

How can you wish someone luck and still say they are going to fail.

fortunately for me, Your the one 1 out of 100 so far to tell me this.

The reason you would fail is because you think the best thing is the worst idea. People dont want random people hanging out there. Customers and employees. No random people hanging around the shop. Thats rediculous. People dont want other random people hanging all over their cars while being worked on. That was the most rediculous thing to say EVER
