wanted to get some more opnions on my SR20det knocking noise
sooo i just installed a biger turbo on my sr soo i figured it would be wise to do a new headgasket and arp studs.. i took the head to a local shop to get cleaned and the valve seals replaced... reinstalled everything got the motor back in the car had a few start up issues but narrowed it all down to a bad z32 maf... after that it started and ran perfect... i let the car run and go through a heat cycle like warm up and cool down... just to make sure everything settles good.. i took it around the block just to see if it drove smooth and ran good... it did and i made sure i did not get on it at allllllllllllllll....... and i didnt.. there was a weird clicking noise coming from my tranny when i would be in gear and driving but when i came to a stop it went away... i drove back home and parked and let it cool down.. my friend came over and wanted to see it run so i started it up for him and we where sitting there looking at it super pumped on it being done finally and just out of nowhere my motor started rattling making a werid knocking noise... i have broken down the head and tryed bleeding the lifters and checked for anything wrong in the head nothing and i put it back together and it still makes a knocking noise... it sounds like its coming from the head where it says 16valve on the cover... i use a screw driver and probed the head all around and heard it buzzing and then when i got to that spasific spot i heard the noise... i know this video isint the best sound quality but what are your suggestions.. do you think i spun a berring? or do you think i just have a bad lifter or bent valve? it could be anything really im just trying to save some time soo your input would be awesome thanks!!!

It sounds like rodknock from the video. I've never heard lifter tick that loud. o_O
nah hahahaha see at first i took them out and just set them aside... then a bunch of people where like woahh dont do that thats bad... sooo i put them in oil like 3 hours after when i got home... soo 2 weeks later i put everything back together started it and it ran good and stuff and it just started to happen.... out of no where soo then people said " Hey did you bleed the lifters" and im like "uhhhh no i didnt think you had to.. asumed most lifters bleed them selfs correct? well i took the head apart and bleed them at least i thought i did it right... i put them in oil and took and allen key and stuck it in the hole on the top.. pushed around till i found the spot that pushed in and let me pump the lifter.. then i took them out of the oil stright up not tilted to the side during this whole process and stuck it back into its spot that it came out of... put the head back together started it up and still this happend.. how would i beable to pin point if its a knock... anything i can do while its still in the car to make sure its rod knock? my buddy miles said to take a screw driver and try lightly pushing down on the piston to see if it has play? also another friend said just unplug injectors till the noise goes away.. if it goes away then its knock on that spasific cylcnder...

If it is possible, get a better/different vid and post that up.
I cant view the vid right now but did you replace all the valve shims in the same spot you took them out? I thought I had a lite knock one time then I remembered I didn't replace the shims from whear I took them out from. I had to re-shim the whole head! I then re-blead the lifters, blead the timming chaine tensioner and removed the upper chaine guide. All the sounds went away after that. Just sayin
