whats needed to install a/c on a SR?
I have a '89 sohc coupe, and I wanna put a/c in it. I have searched on google but found nothing. I know I need to have the SR lines welded to the KA lines, but do I need lines and condensor from a sohc or a dohc?
WRONG
contact codyace on NICO, he sells adapter brakets that lets you bolt on a KA AC compressor, to a SR bracket...
i think this topic was covered a few weeks ago.... either way, once you get the stuff, you still have to wire it in...

Skip the damn bracket shit, time to let the cat out of the bag.
Step one: acquire S13 KADE compressor who cares what shape, and S14KAde compressor in good, or new, or remanufactured shape.
Step 2: Remove the clutch plate and pulley from each
Step 3. Remove the bearing from each pulley.
Step 4: Install S14 bearing into S13 pulley
Step 5: Install new pulley onto S14 compressor, shim clutch plate.
Step 6: Install compressor on stock bracket, use stock S chassis usdm lines.
No welding, no chasing down a jdm compressor, no extra bracketry. No curtains number one and two, just plain curtains.

full on track cars can take a lot more liberties with shit than a street car. bell bottom kits and crazy wheel fitment look cool sliding on a track, but when i want to drive to taco bus, im going to ruin all of that shit. so it just doesnt work for me. function over fashion.

89-90 chasis use a different compressor that will not bolt up using brackets or anything...
all the lines are different
the condensor / condensor lines / evap / drier EVERYTHING is different...
you can not use ANYTHING from a DOHC chassie
only way to do this is by welding the front condensor line (high side) to the SR high side.. if it comes off of the condensor .. which 99% they are siezed after all these years..
then weld the the low side line SR fitting on to the sohc low side line.
Or you can do it the other way by pulling every line / dash - evap / condensor / dryer..
sorry no cat out of the bag on this one..

if you do this, make sure you flush the system and replace all o-rings and the dryer. new expansion valve is a good idea too.

not everyone wants to swap around a bunch of junk and "make it work"
id rather just go to the store and buy a compressor.
and when it breaks, get another. and so on.
