i went there and it wasnt that bad. basiclly filled in the loose bits i didnt know already. but in the end to each his own.

i went into an entry level job as a lube tech and slowly learned how to do major repairs then took the ASE test on my own, they seem to like that approach better than UTI students because they don't have hands on training

 

I have heard good and bad things about Uti,and wyotech. To be honest You might aswell go to Ptec. No school is going to teach you the things you really need for the real world,never. I even know that going to NAA the only reason i'm going to school for A&P and avionics is the only way you can work on planes is to get Faa certified,and unless you have military background and know the material to pass the Faa written and O&P's you probably won't pass. If I was trying to pursue a career as an automotive tech there is no way i'd go to school for it,i'd start off somewhere like tires plus or a dealership as a lube tech then slowly work my way up to tech apprentice and so on,and study for the Ase test and then you have the best of both worlds hands on experience and the certificate. I don't know in the end your going to do what you want which is cool but just make sure it's something you want to do for the rest of your life before you blow a huge amount of money,because it sucks being in debt and there does not seem to be any light at the end of the tunnel of our economy crisis

 

just get a job at a dealership and stay there you'll learn alot or work at a local shop UTI is garbage like everyone else says i went there 2 years ago for no reason i just thaught id learn some new shii but i didnt just just learned that smoking a ciggarett will get u a nice lil sheet of paper and dont throw bottles of sunkis at the prostitutes on OBT they get mad lol

Sry to say but paul is right to tell u the truth u wont even get job going with all the schooling. I know 4 friends that went to uti, graduated and was told that they were going to get job placement and what not and yea...that didnt happen they said it was a wast of money. Also talking to some shop owners they wont care about ur schooling.

 

A dealer ship is a good place if you dont mind changing part's all day,there's not mush in the way of diagnostics, and if you dont mind all the redtape and and backstabing that is in a dealership.

Joe's mech. shop is good if you like and are good at diagnostic work and genraly a good atmosphere but dosnt have all the big corprait perk's that a dealership has.

A performance shop LOL money isnt alway's great or on time and what they look for is what you have done not what you think you can do, trust in your work come's over time as well as respect

so IF you are looking to jump into the wonderful world of car's there are your 3 choice's
and the reason why i posted this is there are many school's out there some good some bad but if you know what you want to do it make's it a bit easyer to deside.
