You learn a lot at erwin..i go there and its pretty impressive..i have a buddy that goes to uti and says he likes it but it doesnt seem hes gaining as much knowlege as my self at erwin tech..they dont go into depth as much as erwin.. uti's program is 1 yr and nearly 30k erwin's automotive program is a year and a half and is roughly 8k...im not tellin anyone how to spend there money but erwin is a more practical route in my opinion

Atany rate UTI sucks, I really would not go. If I had to do it all over again there is NO WAY IN HELL I'd do it again. They kept promising me itd get better, and it hasn't. One thing to know about UTI is IT IS NOTHING AT ALL ABOUT PERFORMANCE. I know the adds show all performance oriented. Well thats a lie. All they do is down talk performance and say performance is a waste blah blah blah. Dont believe anything the recruiters say because they lie out their fucking ass.

According to collegeboard.com, UTI is "only" $15.6K per year. That's a lot of money to learn how to change oil and rotate tires. That's 4x more expensive per year than getting a friggin engineering degree from USF. Lets see here... design cars or tune carbs on cars. By the way, just like DeVry and ITT, UTI is a publicly traded company. Something doesn't sit right about the guy designing my curriculum having to report to shareholders each quarter about profit margins.
And I second what Vertigo said about urinary tract infections. At least 5 people I know have seen the commercials in my presence and made a joke about it.

Yea, I graduated from there a year ago this month. I paid $22K for a years tuition. Everything mike says about it is pretty much true. Its not performance oriented AT ALL. You'll never hear the words Super Strret or Hot Rod-U like the ads mention. The only "performance" classes you take are building a busted 350 and juicing the shit out of it and a class with a guy who knows nothing about "power adders" teach you how a turbo works.
I'm not saying I didn't learn anything, but it definitely wasn't how to be the next big thing in the racing industry. Its a lot of theory and fundamentals; which isn't a bad thing. I think a lot of kids just dont take the time to realize it's all relevant.
I wouldn't say UTI alone is worth it, but moving on to a manufacture-specific training afterwards was more than worth the original tuition cost. I was accepted into the Volkswagen Academy after graduating (which is an entirely DIFFERENT entity than UTI Corp.) and I learned more there in 4 months than I ever could at UTI. I din't have to pay anything but rent (and food) for it either. Although they don't gauruntee a job, they have a %97 hire rate of graduating students.
Take it seriously and you could make it very worth your while.
