The comments werent so much good gas mileage cant be done, just that his mention of going to a 6 spd, which seemed to include numerically lower gearing in 6th, for getting better mileage werent going to work, because you'll just end up in an rshared_pm range where the engine isnt as efficient, and consume more fuel.

There is a reason nissan put the gearing where they did. Sure .5:1 overdrive and 3.4x gears work great on a V8, where that puts you where its most efficient on fuel, but on a little 4 cyl, thats generally not the case.

picked up a 93 maxima today, for cheap. Trans wont go into the forward gears(auto), but it just randomly started one day no signs of slipping.

any ideas?

AKA you need to generally match the final drive to match the change in ratio's to get the engine RPM back to where they should be. I was thinking a J30 might be a good medium if the 6spd swap ever happens unless I can find an S15 spec R pumpkin.

lol, speaking of loud exhaust, I almost forgot. I have been rocking a 2 1/4" cat delete straight pipe to 3" blast pipe w/typical ebay/hotshot/obx KA header.
so....
Last week i got gas on the road I work on (484) in ocala and a Sooper Trooper was chilling in the median. I was just cruising by trying to be incognito(was hard since I had to start from a stop) and sure enough whips it around and lights em up. He was I guess an ok deuchbag, let me off on the windshield crack, but gave me "fix it" improper equipments etc... for exhaust and bald tires(they were, only the outermost 1/4th had tread lol)....................

The shitty part, the only reason I'm rocking this spare shit setup(Although it has amazing clearance for being slammed) is b/c my xs power dual tip guy has a hole in the middle of the resonator that almost sounds like open header that I havent fixed yet. THought I would b one of the lucky ones that never got harassed for exhaust...verdict.....like ^ said, loud exhaust is fun, but can get you unwanted attention.
