Datsun Dreaming
But true. Those where some of the big advantages of the Z. I can make 265-280 wheel hp with intake/full exhaust/tune. I can easily remove 100lbs and get it down to about 3100lbs and that means it only weighs about 250lbs more than the S14/S2000. Also changing out the compression rod bushings and going with SPL tie rods will sharpen up the steering.
Here is my goal for the Z
KW V3's
SPC rear camber/toe arms
245/265 18 NT05s on 18" RPF1's and maybe 265/285 NT01's for track time
Full exhaust (Decent headers, resonated test pipes, Apexi WS2)
Intake
Plenum spacer
Tune
Nismo Flywheel W/ new OEM clutch
3.7 or 3.9 ring & pinion
SPL tie rods
SPL compression rod bushings
Decent brake pads/fluid
Thats good for low 13's in the 1/4 and it would walk away from my S14 on the track while not being overly harsh driving around every day. Also that is an extremely short list of things to do compared to what I ended up doing to my S14 to get it where I wanted.

But, I would not regret owning either of both of those cars and if I were in the market those two seem to be the only ones that meet my standards.
I want the gain in practicallity more than the edginess. I dont need a knife edge race car to drive around every day. It sucks. Its awesome probably 5 days out of the year when I actually make use of it.
The Z is still very quick and very nimble. Like I said stock for stock the AP1 wins, but once I do a few things that gap is very very narrow. Its just like an S14, its a total shit car when stock, but with the right stuff done to it, it will completely change the cars driving feel. I know I can accomplish what I want and have more fun in a Z and be less likely to want to kill myself. I'm over the go-kart feeling of smaller cars.
