Oh yeah since you wanted to compare on the same displacement level

VK56DE 5.6L 315 HP / 390 Ft lbs

LS6 5.7L 405 HP / 400 ft lbs

Looks like even when not static, you OHC setup just got beat by 90 HP and 10 ft lbs, by a "redneck potato"

Ouch ?

Why are you comparing the motors from a sports car to the motor from a truck. Compare truck motor to truck motor and they'd be about even.

And the 5.0 isnt a giant motor, its a taller than a LSX but its not drastic and it doesnt weigh any more. I'd much rather have a new 5.0 mustang GT than a Camaro SS.

The Trucks werent given the 5.7, fine you really want to cry discrepancy when I found the highest rated VK56 and used it as an example, when you know they dont go for low output with the Infiniti line of things..

LY5 5.3L 315 HP 338 Ftlbs, truck engine Less displacement same power

Want to mention the torque ? chalk it up to the half liter in displacement

Oh look tables have turned, now the smaller motor makes the same HP when compared to the OHC motor, with redneck pushrods

PS. The FIA GT1 series the Nissan GTR (RWD with VK56) is beating the shit out of the C6-R vettes (same ones built by pratt & miller that one LeMans) so hey apples to oranges right?

Like I said before

Technology

Moving Parts

Whatever helps you justify making less power and getting the same fuel mileage.

Your still comparing apples to oranges in the first post, and when the motors are in trucks, the torque output kind of makes a large difference. So yeah 50lbs is a lot. And I'd assume that if chevy did make a 5.7l motor it wouldnt really make much more power than the VK. You can easily alter the power output of the VK with some small changes to the variable cam timing. Either way there isnt much of a difference between the truck motor, and Nissan has yet to really make a high performance V8 for road cars so I wouldnt use them in comparison with a motor GM has been using in race cars for over 50 years. Apples to oranges again.

They both have their advantages. But I'd still go Ford 5.0 over either one. Yes its more complicated and taller, but it rev's higher stock, makes tons of power with nothing but ecu tuning and can make all the power of the LSX motors with less displacement and less work (cams, tune exhaust and your almost at 460-480hp with 7500rpm+) and what it lacks in torque it will make up for in broad power that is adjustable across the range and higher revs.

Cool uhh nissan threw a bunch of money at a racing program, sweet i guess ?

Corvettes got how many wins in GT1 ?

The GTR ?

Chevrolet had to let someone else have a turn

Oh your GTR

600 HP, 5.6L

New chevrolet GT1 setup, 5.5L (oh i could have sworn theres been a 5.5L combination using stock parts i've considering making for my new longblock plans, what a coincidence)

and 485 HP

Oh sweet your "technology" got you a much bigger engine, and 5 HP

They did make a 5.7, its called the LS6

405 HP, 400 ft lbs

You lose, accept it, trying to claim some "technology" bullshit with overhead cams, is nothing but bullshit, argue the facts with them staring you straight in the face all you want.

Its taller, its wider, it weighs more, it makes less power.

Its not a 5.5 in GT1 tard its still the 7.0 liter. Im talking about FIA GT1 not ALMS GT2. And yeah Nissans first year at racing a brand new untried car is beating the shit out of one of the top cars. They also had to put weight penaltys in the GTR. Woopsie they're too fast.

Yeah its in sports car designed to go fast, not a truck. If they put that in the truck it would be an iron block and be boring just like the VK cause its in a truck. Hey look at that your arguments are totally one sided.

It doenst weigh more, and it makes the same power with over 1.3L less displacement vs the LS3. So you havent proven anything.

And compared to an LS1 its miles ahead of it stock for stock.
