david i specifically stated i know what it was like to be young on here in one of our previous talks. I still say stupid shit and get rode, im no where near most of these guys technically speaking. yours are just funny because you post them so frequently then pull the young card everytime. every makes mistakes, laugh at yourself.

reply to thread, got 2 days lined up to get motor together this week, so it may be atleast dropped in this weekend, running shortly after.. hopefully.

Don't cheap out on stuff. Q45 diff is more of a pita than its worth in your car. Just because someone gives you heroine and a needle doesn't mean you should start shooting it up your veins. They also eat up more power than the R200's. Don't be another local 240 lobster. Buy a decent diff or atleast a vlsd *they are NOT that expensive - I've seen kaaz 2way diff's for s13s go for like 700-750 bucks new vlsd's can be had for cheaper.

I don't know why you are worried about the brakes. You probably aren't breaking over 115-120whp (if you are lucky). You aren't going to be generating the speeds needed to justify an allout upgrade. Just get decent pads, braided lines - replace fluid and call it a day.

Coilovers on the cheap (megan racing even though I am not very fond of them). Also get subframe spacers, tension rods, tein tie rods, strut tower bars and fender braces maybe (all stuff you don't have to spend an arm and a leg on).

I wouldn't spend any more money than that if I was you until you get some driver mods. Once your totally comfortable ringing your car out at that level than start worrying more about power (i.e. engine swap brakes e.t.c.).

You aren't really going to start having alot of fun until you dump about 5-7k in your car. Recommend just getting a job and saving up more than anything.

I'm reading this one right now. I'm just wondering, I keep reading that you need a "Modification to backing plates", but it's always just a quick mention. What do they mean by that?

Thanks. I'm really only getting Q45 brakes because I'm going 5 lug, and I already have everything for Q45 brakes just chilling on my dad's parts car. I'm not worried at all about the stopping power. I have a stock KA after all. I'm still trying hard to get a job. =/

So, the R200 eats up more power than the R200 huh ?

Interesting fact, try doing actual research, before repeating something you read on the interwebs somewhere once, posted by someones mothers cousin's, twice removed, uncles, best friends, brothers buddy.

David what are you planning for the front of this 5 lug conversion for hubs, and for the rear ?

I've been reading up, and I found that I can bolt on the whole Q45 rear knuckle, but then I would have to bore out the bottom hole I think for the strut. I could possibly just put the hub straight on, I'm still reading about that. And for the front, I need to press an S13 bearing into the Q45 hub, then it's just bolt on. I'm still searching all over to make sure that what I've read is right. I'm cross referencing multiple sites to make sure that it isn't what someone's mothers cousin's, twice removed, uncles, best friends, brothers buddy said.

You cant just bore some hole on the rear spindle, the lower mount is a complete different type, you'd need either coilovers with rear Z32 lower mounts, or Z32 rear shocks, not too sure on the Q45 dimensions, but there might be a small possibility that they could be used.

But yeah the rear spindle has nothing to do with the hub, the rear spindles are the same as far as bolting hubs to them, however you cannot use the Q45 rear hubs with Schassis/j30/z32NA axles, they will not work.

Front Q45's im pretty certain will not work like that either, the J30's however can be done, if the Q45 hubs happen to be the same style, which im quite certain they arent, then you can proceed with them, but its not as simple as press bearing out, press in done, you need to have them pressed out, a new groove for the retaining ring machined in a new location, and then the new bearings pressed into the hubs after. Figure about $110 for new bearings, $50-60 for machine work, and a set of J30 hubs.

Sorry to foil your plans, but thats the actual facts of what you are looking to do.
