I was looking through the desoto drift picture thread in the library at school today, and some kid asked me why everyone was crashing.

 

It was pretty minimal. HKS 264 step2's, Greddy manifold, FR ram-horn manifold, GT3040 journal bearing with .82ar ex, Haltech E11 (v1), HKS type-S FMIC, Bosch 1000cc top feeds, JUN single springs, Apexi gasket. That's about it. Spec stage 3, stock trans, S14 vlsd, drag radials, AVCR, catch can, 3" down pipe, I guess round it out. That's all the drivetrain was. No fancy this and that. Motor just gave up one day.

Someone around here beat that number shortly afterwards. But yeah, like Tim alluded to, it's basically a pissing contest. The idea was, hey lets max out the turbo and I'll do a built motor when it blows. He actually went to follow up, but the block that AEBS sleeved turn out to be total garbage and not even installed straight. It's still sitting at his house with some high-comp CP's.

My personal motor is done. All mild stuff. 2871r 52-trim, 256/264 step1's, injectors, maf, tune, fmic, gasket, and that's it. It's a lot more fun than my last setup.

 

I'd say its pretty meaningful. It establishes a maximum power level for people that can't afford internals. It is a pissing contest when you start pushing for 10 more HP, but 9 months at 550whp indicates you can daily 400whp for a few years. That kind of data isnt stupid or pointless.

Epstein: You consider the 2871r more fun that an all out 307x TS? is it the boost coming on earlier?

Cleaned it. Drove it all day thinking about what manifold I should get for my ka-t. Ill be using a t25 or t28. Any recommendations?
