Should I Do A Kat
if u have to ask which to do on a budget, i'd just save up more and do it right. you can technically have a reliable, fun KA-T for under $2000 (it's actually near $1600 if you fab up manifold and piping yourself). run ~6-8psi (good for 200-240whp) and call it a day. 240whp with traction can land you low 13's maybe 12.9/12.8 if you're good. honest.

13s would be nice idk im gonna have to realy debate to myself becus just yesterday my friends ka with just catback beat a stock sr by a car and a half so the kat would be nice but then again idk i think ill just look around and mabye ill find a good deal and take it but for now i think im going to socre some parts for a standard rebuild on a ka and some turbo components thanks alot u guys for the difrent point of views
let me just give you a reality check. taylor blew up 2 ka-t causethey had minimal to NO internal work running a fair amount of boost. you can piece together a ka-t cheaper than doing an sr yes. and yes a stock sr with bolt ons. yes. but like we have all said repeatedly in this post.but the ka-t won't be realiable with the money you have put in. then you are money down the pit.
i know what you are trying to achieve with your bolt on home made ka-t set up. don't do it. just save the money and completely build it. or just buy and sr and achieve the same amount of power for now. take it from me. and take it from dave who just made a post under art's name. his ka-t with stock internals lasted about 30 k miles with minimal beating. build it properly or don't build it at all. learn from those who have been there.

taylor's ka's actually were tuned well to ~250whp and ran only like 10-12psi, but taylor spent most of his time beating on it in high RPMs during drifting...clutch kicks, this and that...the motor isnt bound to last. they ran good, but drifting requires the best in cooling, and even with his vmounts and stuff i think it did him in over extended use.
im surprised mine has lasted this long, but ive always been overly cautious about keeping it cool and running safely. it requires alot of maintenance and upkeep. i have just about 30k miles on mine now, coming up on 2 years in december.
its going to depend on how your motor is to start with. you're not required to build it, but dont expect it to last forever. this isnt entirely true, but the lower the boost/power, the longer it will last, because less strain. but even 7psi setups blow up when people dont do it right.

i thought he told me it wasn't built at all

i see what u mean jonas, that if i do a ka and it blows up all the money was wasted but i could just save and get a sr like everyone else and be mr reliable and i think that what ill do and dan i hope your motor keeps running strong and show people what a kat can do , on anither note do any of u know any were that sells sr;s real cheap?
just go to ka-t.org and start reading. ka ftw....torque ftw
