i checked all the couplers on the intercooler, and even ran a pipe straight from the turbo to the throttle body and neither worked, i have replaced me ecu before, i had a friend that said he was a dsm mechanic and that he could hard wire my turbo timer in without using the wiring harness and he fried my ecu. the car still idled but all the sensor readings where wrong according to the ecu. the tps sensor(according to the s-afc) said the ecu was reading at 100 % throttle, even after i unplugged the tps sensor, but now the car wont even turn over anymore. and sometimes i think it will start but it will just backfires and dies.

If you do know what you are talking about then why did you say it couldnt be the ecu because it was running? and a black cloud of smoke is not only caused by too much fuel. It could also be too much oil.

You need to find out how much fuel presure your runnin, it might be your fuel pressure regulator. but check how much pressure is coming off of the line.
But lets not make this guys post all about who knows what or if you dont know anything. If you can help this guy help him if not keep your comments to yourself. importeclipsegst I still think you need to pm BROTHERS.

do you know that blue smoke is caused by burning oil and its not really black its it could be burning oil and runnin to rich just pm the brothers so they can look at it its really hard to tell you your problem over the net. thats why they have mechanics to work on peoples cars. and yes you can run it with a bad ecu do you want me to tell you the outcome.

i talked to lancerman and hes on vacation. but now the car wont start, it turns over and sometimes it backfires, but it wont start and everytime the engine does a rotation you can see little puffs of black smoke, i check to see if there was spark, and there is, and i know that the engine is getting fuel. im going to check to see if it has good compression again, maybe some shavings from porting the intake manifold for the 1g TB has gotten into the combustion chambers or something, but i borrowed another ECU from a local DSMer and it still wont start, so im elimanting that it is the ecu. anyone have any ideas? i REALLY want to put it on the dyno on the 19th.

think back to when the car was running good. now... what work was done to the car after that ?

did it start runnung bad after you installed the 60mm TB? shavings in the motor can bring the compression to zero.

well what it sounds like to me is that its flodding out, with the little puffs of black smoke . Did you check your fuel pressure regulator or did you check how much pressure you getting . What kind of injestors do you have.

what did i say about the ecu i was right.

well truthfully the car hasnt been running right since i put the new turbo in because the old one had ALOT of shaft play. at one shot i did the FP18g turbo and Greddy Big FMIC and all greddy hard piping and Greddy bov. it did run but it had a very bad hesitation untill 32-3500 rpmor untill the turbo was fully spooled and then it ran like a raped ape! but driving under normal throttle and operation, it had no power and hesitated to where i had to ride the clutch to keep the engine above 3500 so it would move from a stand still. as for the car not running now, i did the 60mm TB swap and it ran afterwards but it was really rich. the throttle body was the 3 vaccum TB with anothere vaccum line angled off towards the firewall(1991 TB) and i reused the metal gasket from the TB to the elbow, and had a new paper gasket from the TB to intake manifold. The next morning i woke up i called a friend over to check to see why it was running so rich and the car wouldnt start. the engine rotates freely but it wont start and sometimes it would backfire while it attempted to start. i did and ecu swap and it didnt do anything, i checked all the couplings and there on secrurely. i checked for fuel and spark and that was ok, i did a compression check and its 180-183 across the board. the spark plugs are pitch black(7es). the engine only has 65,000 miles on it and has the factory injectors, fpr, and fuel pump.
