As far as the rev limit is concerned.....those cams and that turbo with a built vtec head will probably make power until 9000. So your rev limiter will probably be around 9200 or so. With that and some 225/50/15 drag radials....you will be able to rev out 4th gear to 135mph. That should be enough for the street with that setup. Run the LS 5th gear and we can race to 240mph

lol soulds like a plan. as far as the aem-ems. no i do not have it yet. but im getting a killer ass deal on it. as far as who is tuning it, probably Matt Scranton

i really dont think a motor that will push 400whp is a small motor. plus this car will be daily driven

For the crap of it...here are some parts I recommend to people looking to make good power:

Full-race or onefab manifold or Lovefab
Tial 44mm vband wastegate
Tial BOV
Precision 1000cc injectors
Largest precision intercooler
SC61, T3, S-housing.....or ballerific...GT35R
Aeromotive 1:1 regulator
Walboro high HP pump
3 bar map sensor
3" dp
blah blah blah

Never said he would LOSE TORQUE with the VTEC head... Just said a 400hp LS vs. a 400hp LS vtec, the straight LS would make more torque, at the same power level... Come on Jason, you are a smart guy you should know that... You should know, that torque, is directly related to cylinder pressure... Boost raises cylinder pressures, thus raising torque... So therefore you should know, that with an LS head, it will take alot more boost than a VTEC head to make 400whp... More boost = more torque.... DUH!!!!

And for the record, I never said an LS head would be better than an LS-VTEC, simply said that the LS head, if built right, is capable of the same power... Thats just the route I chose because I like to be different, and I wanted to show everyone it can be done... Sorry I dont like to jump on band wagons and do what everyone else does

Pretty much summed it up right there. To make the same power, it is going to take more boost with the LS. So why not boost the vtec setup more. In the end, the LS loses. It is the R/S that makes the LS have more trq. Sure the combustion chamber size of the vtec heads vs. the LS head will probably play a role in the cylinder pressures, but by how much? Not what you are thinking I can tell you that.

No bandwagoneer here, just common sense. If you are spending the money to make the most power, it is defintaley worth it to spend a few hundred to go the vtec route, and then send that head off to get reworked if you feel the need to.

But he said he wanted 400whp... 400 is 400 on either motor, no matter how you look at it... All I was saying is a 400hp LS, would have more torque then a 400hp vtec motor, due to the added boost it will take to achieve that power... But then again, with his car, torque would be the enemy. That would be another thing for him to consider...
