But with more stress, more boost, etc. and top out faster. You guys can take the retarded route thats cool, but lets remember that there are niave people on this board that take stuff to heart. So when I have people posting that the LS motor will make 370trq and a LS-vtec motor will only make 270trq on the same boosted setup, someone needs to make sure that they realize it is not true. The fact is, they both will make 400 trq, but the vtec motor is going to do it with less stress, less boost, etc. and make more power at the same time. Why do people give the LS-vtec a bad wrap. Because stupid people post stupid threads about the combo and niave people believe them. Case and point.

Jason, you are not understanding the argument I am making here... We are talking HORSEPOWER... A 400hp LS will have more torque than a 400hp LS-VTEC, simply due to the fact it takes more boost to make the same power... I agree that if both motors had 400torque, the LS-VTEC should have more power... I never said nor implied you were wrong...

The only thing Im not understanding is how you say The straight LS will top out faster... For one, I dont care about the top speed... Ive taken fifth gear to 7600rpm and seen the needle wrap around... Big deal, when will you ever need to go that fast??? It gets a little scary up there.... Besides, when will I ever trap over 172mph(about where my car tops out)???? I agree, its nice to stay in 4th gear, but once my head is built and I can rev to 8500 or 9k, I wont need to worry about that... a boosted LS reving to 9k with a GSR tranny , vs. a boosted LS VTEC reving to 9K with a GSR tranny, would both top out the same given they were on the same size tires. So that shouldnt part of the debate....

I figured I would chime in here since im all about the LS TURBO! Ls turbo is great.... you can make plenty of power, but, for a daily driven high horsepower car, VTEC is the way to go. You can make the same power as the ls but with less stress and less boost. Im not going for big baller #'s like you guys, Im happy with my 290 but If I was...Id go VTEC. It makes me wonder sometimes why people want that much horsepower for a street car?? CJ...have you ever been in a crx with even 300hp? I think you might be surprised with that. I guess overall Im with Jason on this one...Vtec all the way for a high hp car.
