Bunch of Nitrous Questions
Alright I have a bunch of questions about nitrous because im considering putting it on my 96 6 speed z28. This Car has 81000 miles with lots of new gaskets and seals. Everything has come off except for the heads. It runs strong too. If you dont feel like reading this post and answering questions could you give me a website that has lots of info on it. Ive read most all the posts in the N20 section already.
1.) Wet more reliable than Dry?
2.) Dry easier to install?
3.) Would an OBDI tuned specifically for headers/exhaust induction (52mm) and LT4 hotcam 1.66rr work alright if I added nitrous?
4.) Has anyones FPSS ever failed?
5.) Anyone have a horror story with using a 100 shot of nitrous on what they felt was a properly installed system?
6.) Total cost in what you feel is the most reliable set up with remote bottle opener.
7.) Why did you choose your Wet/Dry system and why did you choose the shot you use?
Anyone know much about the fully computerized Venom Nitrous System (Sold on RKSport).
If i run nitrous on this car Im going to make damn sure I choose the best parts and do everything right.

ok---well the wet kit is easier for most people as far as reliability they are the same wet uses two soleniods and a dry uses one
you want to tune your car for max power before running the nitrous so yes a tuning for headers and such would work fine youd just retard the timing a few degrees(if ya want) a 100 shot youll want to run a bigger fuel pump to be safe and colder plugs-----a wet kit will need a purge valve or the motor will bog because it will dump extra fuel in and without the nitrous coming out right away it will be too rich.......
never used a FPSS-----just check your fuel press or run a air fuel monitor if your scared--- iwouldnt be scared nitrous isnt the engine killer people make it out to be.... it is all about supplying enough fuel and making sure everyting is in good shape...
i run a dry kit---easy to install wet kit is not much harder--- id get a wet kit if i could go back and start over-----as far as what shot it is really gonna depend on how much traction you think you have a 100 shot on some street tires in first gear is prolly gonna spin alot.....i wouldnt run anything over a 125-150 shot without a kick ass fuel pump good tune and a air fuel monitor.....
as far as pricing it depends on what brand....nos tnt nitrous express edelbrock compucar topgun zex venom------id go with a nitrous express wet kit and run a 125 shot on your application--that is if you can put it to the ground......a remot bottle opener can be had for about $200 for any one of these systems.....
if you want a system with purge remote opener and bottle warmer---look to spend about $750-$1000 bucks----it will be money well spent tell me another mod that costs that that will give you 100+hp

Yeah Im running platinum plugs... Ill fry them on the first run if i run nitrous...
I think Ill wait for the 383 to go into the car... Then Ill probably throw on a 200 shot or wait another year for a turbo...

I tried calling the number you gave me.. Greg right? But i got the answering machine today. But it said it was Mike....??..
The tranny rebuild is first.... Found some awesome deals on parts then going to do the LS1 brake upgrade... Then the 12 bolt LCAs Torque arm... That is the plan... Of course thats until a civic or something beats me... that shit will go out the window and a blown 383 goes in
I will have the 383 done... Sometime.. With a nitrous set up too... (like turbo but to expensive) but it will be this summer at the earliest.. I still want to see the shop... If you do other work then i would consider you guys... since I dont have my tools and my garage are 1000 miles away.
