alright i just have bought a 99 hatch back and it has a b18b motor in it and i want to do a head swap but i have a few questions. i know that you need the headecuoil lines a plugand oil fittings. know do i need to change anything else like the pistonsrodsfuel pumprailinjectors. for the ecu does it matter what year it is or will any one do. another thing is my car has air bags will i have to get an ecu out of a car with air bags or are the air bags controlled by another computer. i know i have to widen the dowel holes and put a plug in the original oil supply for the vtec. another thing is can i use any vtec head. any information you all can give me will be greatly appreciated.

thanx

Just to get the ball rolling.
You will need:
vtec pistons- valve reliefs on the ls pistons are not wide or deep enough also they are low comp.
vtec oil pump-out of b16a gsr or type R since your car is obd2 get a brand new type R one..about $150
Arp rod bolts- in the catalog the bolts listed for 1.8l engines are the 9mm rod bolts. On my b18a1 I had to use the 8mm ones. Ive heard that the b18b uses 9mm but Ive never checked myself. After installing the rod bolts have a machine shop resize the rods.
Ls head gasket.
water pump- you can use either an ls or a vtec pump but you have to match the t-belt to the pump you use. note: if you use a vtec water pump use gsr t-belt.
You can use any dohc vtec head.
Ecu-it would be a good idea to match the ecu to the head you are using. You will also need a knock sensor and that has to be tapped into the back of the block.
Optional:
Balance the rotating assembly- good idea if you plan to rev past 8k rpms.
DOHC vtec tranny- geared alot tighter than an ls.
I know I probably left some stuff out but this should get you started.

thanx kj you input was really helpful. i have some heavy research and come up with one conclusion it would be easier to just buy a b18c and tear it down and built it up.

thanx
