phinger please never use your car as an example to prove your point, it totally backfires

rigging a fan to come on all the time isn't really that good, since it will take
the car longer to reach operating temp and the performance isn't optimal and
neither is the mpg capabilities of the motor until it reaches the operating temp

yes, but my coolant temp always stayed at 180-190 after i jumped the fans. blame it on typical poor GM design

actually gm designed the car to run at a certain temperature, thats why there are such precise degrees that the fans come on and off bla bla bla.. operating temperature is more than often mistaken for the "optimum performance" temperature, in fact its really not. this operating temperature is more for gas mileage and fuel consumption than anything else.. the hotter the car runs the more completely the gas in the combustion chamber is burned.. thats why i see 2351832756135015 posts a day with everyone saying "i put my fans on a switch and now im running rich.. help" an engine that runs at say 180-190 degrees wont burn off ALL the fuel in the chamber.. not only does this leave you with a rich condition but this fucks the computer all up.. thats why you cant just throw a fan switch on or hardwire it.. yeah i know my car was hardwired, but ask jeremy formato how many return trips i made for dyno tunes and how many pulls i made everytime i was there.. unless your planning on seriously changing the air and fuel flow in your car there really is no gain at lowering the running temp.

i have a pretty good idea that frank isnt going all out on a crazy lt1 build up and therefore he wont benefit at all from a fanswitch or a retune or anything like this.. the computer temp sensor is right in the bottom drivers side of the water pump.. it is extremely easy to get to from underneath the car and you wont have to remove anything.. chances are if you are running a constant 223 that you arent overheating and your just not used to that high of a running temp since all the rest of your carbeurated cars run much lower compression than the lt1's 10.5:1
