It shouldn't, how many modern vehicles even have a distributer?
On a properly sealed distriburter cap there should not be enough moisture in it to cause enough condensation from it being cooled that little bit to interfere with the spark.
Otherwise there would be millions upon millions of cars not starting all winter long north of Florida.
Steam cleaning your engine bay on the other hand can easily mess with your underhood electronics, it's small enough to get in everywhere.
And yes if you douse the elctronics with enough water you'll kill them, but I suspect the front of said vehicle is underwater at that point anyway.

My 01 cougar had a Engine ignition Coil pack. With the car running and me cleaning the engine bay with water it cracked it in half and I didn't even soak it or splash it with water directly. That was the last time I ever washed my Engine bay with a hose. Not sure if I just did it wrong or not, but I've always been told to wash the engine bay with the car on so if any water that gets somewhere it shouldn't will burn (wrong terminology) off. :shrugs:

the coil shouldn't have done that, but I don't doubt that it did
stuff happens because they're cars
they get used, they break
we move on

I don't wash the engine bay or the engine down anymore either.....long story but suffice to sat a non firing carbuerated engine and lots of gasoline vapor collecting in a muffler makes for an interesting time.

For people who don't have a distributor....ignore that. LOL!

I see more bone stockers dead in the water than lowered cars.
Even when the front has not yet gone under, in Tampa when the water reaches the bottom of the rims, believe me.....it's getting some on your motor and your electricals.

The other day I saw a car in not-very-deep water, until the wrecker truck passed in the other lane and caused a tidal wave.....

I hate to see people having trouble whether they "deserve" it or not.

A name witheld quote from a few days ago:-Bob

"i was drivin in tampa it was pourin out, i have a cold air intake on my car, i drove threw very slowly what i thought was a shallow puddle, halfway threw the street dropped n the water got a lot deeper. my car choked out, i got out to push it out of the water, (the water was up to the door frame) almost comin in the car, my idiot friend tried to start it while the intake was under so it sucked up all the water, well no suprise but it wont run, when it happened i took out the plugs n cranked it to spit out some of the water, it spit out a lot! after that i put new plugs in, could get it started but runnin terrible. then it got repo'd from me for about 8 months, i just bought it back n wanna get it fixed, i pretty sure the engine iz toast, but any idea's that could fix it, i can get it started but it backfires like hell. just tried plugs but no luck.
checked all the fuses all good

im lookin for a new engine to put in but until i find one i tryin to fix it
so anybody got any idea's or can sell me a engine?
message on here or call or text me at xxxxxxxxxx
i lookin for a D15 or d16, maybe a b16 if i can find it cheap enough
Thanks!! )"

Why would you bump a thread that no one cares about and hasn't posted in in 2+ weeks?
