Default Title Transfer Question

Hey guys, might be trading my car tomorrow for a car that is currently registered and the owner lives in Georgia.I'm wondering if I have to do anything special or if it's as simple as bringing the Georgia title in paying a transfer fee and coming out with a Florida one. Or are there other steps I need to do??

I would get a photo copy of his ID and make a bill of sale. There is a link to the Florida Bill of Sale in our own car fs section on TR.

I bought my last car in GA, drove it home, took it to the tax collectors office with the title, VIN Verification, and bill of sale (they inspected one of my past cars), paid the fees and had a FL title sent to me. There is something that the GA title has to have filled out that the FL title does not have, so make sure to go through everything.

This was in 2008.

I see people out there spending money on the car to improve it … If you spend half that effort just working on your driving skills, making you and the car work together as a team, then you’ll go faster – period. To make the car go a second faster on the track takes a lot more energy and money than making yourself drive it one second faster.

What do you mean, like on the actually title? I think terms have changed I called DMV today and they said some registration form needed to be filled out and notarized

The VIN verification and Vehicle Identification did need to be notarizad. I downloaded that form from the FL DMV and filled it out in Adobe.

I didn't scan the GA Title before taking it in, it was some kind of box on the form that needed to be filled out. I remember Eric discussing it with his wife during the sale. Its no big deal, just go over the title I think it has a sale section or something.
