I wasn't much of a fan until I took my motorsports engineering minor especially my high performance IC engine's class and realized what they are capable of. Ran the IC engine's lab and TA'ed that class while I interned at NASA and then grew to be even more of a fan of both biodiesel and ethanol.
Now that I have an F250 I'm a huge fan and am anxious for the diesel subaru's to come to the US. They make about 40 more hp and about 70 more lb-ft than the TDI's...that and I like subaru's...besides, a diesel boxer!!

Time to start corrupting the diesel subaru community

oh and I love driving my bosses taureg V10 tt TDI...massive tq curve that pulls to about 5200 and its completely stock.

I e-mailed the local dealership AND mercedes, and both basically told me I was full of shit.

So, I will not own a Mercedes, even though I think the diesel model is badass.

that was probably the starting price of the gas motor and would have been noted in tiny ass print...that and a turbo diesel truck will easily run over that much...well the new half ton line up may be cheaper...shit, my F250 new was 36k and that was 8 years ago and its a ford.

The sulfur content in desiel fuel, thats what he was talking about. Not the air filters.

The old school diesel mercs get like 30 on diesel, and 27-28 on vegetable oil. You don't even need biodiesel, they run on straight vegetable oil. Which is ultra-badass.

Hmmm... been thinking of getting one for 2 reasons.

1. its a cool old skool mercs..
2. decent on mpg..

Hmm... just where to find one??? I got a bunch of friends that work at fast food.... heh get the old oil and filter it

I wonder if you slightly gut the mercs it would get better MPG
