You're getting better mileage than I've been getting in a 240sx! I've been averaging 15 mpg. And it's not just a matter of a neglected old beater- I've done filters, fluids, vacuum leaks, tracing and correcting all the codes it threw, test pipe, plugs, timing, maf cleaner, anything I could think of to improve it and it hasn't gone up even 1 mpg yet. I'm not done yet but wow- 15 mpg is pretty damn good with that rig. Maybe I'll go get an Express van diesel swap and put it in my car, jeez.

I like the idea of diesels, but I feel they are in the same class as hybrids. The initial cost and additional maintenance costs outweigh the savings you realize at the pump, at least in the amount of time most people keep their cars.

I love diesels, i just wish american companies would make some sporty cars available to the united stated that come with a diesel. I know the 3 series diesel was pretty successful in auto racing over in europe.

I'm sure everyone has seen this video but i love it.

Oh god do I love diesel.
If only the engines could be made lighter...
But man, you can boost the hell out of those things.
Direct injection FTW!

Test drove a Grand cherokee with a 3.0 turbo diesel, fucking loved it, as much nuts as my durango, with 4wd and 1/3rd more mpg. It only comes in the limited a 40,000 dollar truck though, so fuck it I'm looking at used jetta's now.

You have to do filter changes which can be a couple hundred bucks for the domestic pickups. I'm not sure the low sulpher diesel changes that.

Plus, parts are more expensive for diesels, and not everybody can work on them.

Filter, as in the intake filter? if so, yeah there not cheap. A crappy paper one for the van is like 60 bucks.

I'd love to have an Opel Eco, 140mph, 114mpg with a 1.3L Turbo Diesel
