only thing is you cant use the launch control more then 5 times with out replaceing the tranny or clutch after.

There was a service bulletin on reprogramming the SMGs. Not sure what it fixes but it was for every 3rd gen or whatever SMG...E46 M3, E63 6 series etc., plus before I left the dealership I saw some E60 M5s in for transmission problems. I reprogrammed at least 4-5 myself, let alone everyone else at the shop. Like I said before, I also had to replace the hydraulic clutch actuator that presses in the clutch for you. Then, reprogram that.

Considering how uncommon they are in the Sarasota area or in general, I'd say thats pretty bad.

ok....& what about DSG? I've played around with the SMG a lil, but never really got the chance to drive it hard to fully take advantage of it

I'm fairly certain the 05s were new enough that they didnt require reprogramming as they had it "correct" from the factory. Most of the cars I reprogrammed were 03s and such IIRC

Oi, your right I just went and looked up the article comparing the two. BMW should put a SMG transmission in the new 135i.

i have a g35 and its auto with the tipshift thing, i think i will kill myself if standard cars ever become obsolete.
its just boring not being involved..lol i believe automatic transmissions were made for lazy, fat americans
if you look, in europe probably 99% of people drive standards. ive been numerous times and all the taxis, everything is standard shift, and there are VERY VERY few obese europeans other then the common beer bellys.....

and im almost positive its the same way in japan and in australia and such...

just my opinion
