I agree...one of the numerous reasons I love the Elise/Exige S2 chassis especially so much. Even though it has IMO Toyota's worst engine, its my favorite new showroom car..quite possibly the last 100% true sports car, as it had to recieve exemption status from different rules for its simplicity.
I sorta agree with cupholders...Miata is my first car with them IIRC and with it broken its a very shitty one at best...
Personally, I think a manual car should be allowed 2 maximum; one for driver one for passenger. Manual = you've got to pay attention anyways, so if you can multitask then whats one more thing to do? Automatics...well automatics arent true sports cars anyways..

Car clubs once consisted of many types of cars, bonded by their love of cars. These days, the "younger generation" dislikes anyone who is not just like themselves, and have learned from TV that they are supposed to continually put down the other guy..........that kind of behavior leads to disharmony and segmenting.
After hours of sitcom-watching, people have learned things guaranteed to destroy their relationships. Political correctness in school has guaranteed they cannot earn a living. A certain political party aided by the bad news media has taught them that life is screwing them and that they should be blaming someone else for their life being a pile of manure.
It is necessary that we have a pool of laborers who will not succeed in life, in order to keep our economy going; but in the process, we have lost a lot............including the car scene.

People segment themselves into small groups and don't have anything to do with any other segmented group. I see the segmented groups at car shows.
People group themselves by the type car they drive and
don't appreciate the other guys ride.

I agree. Me and my old crew had some of the first import cars hooked up around here(circa1994). Although we rarely go out anymore(31yrs old now) we still Love the cars and work on them. Man, I've got some old ass videos and pics from back then. I got a picture of Danny(owner of Racing Zone) in his old ass 1st gen mr2, when he used to live in a lil bullshit studio apt near USF. Those were the good old days.
I don't think the passion for cars and modifying them will EVER die. For some it's a fad, but for the real motorheads, it's in our "blood".

everything you said is true, minus it being just the younger generation. i was recently very good friends with people involving 240's but because i didnt agree with everything that was done i was sort of pushed out of the group. noone in that group minus me, superk and lordofthemiasma was under 25, and they still did that.
