i kind of agree with you, i havent been seeing many people hanging out anymore in there car clubs like they used to. It sucks too, cause the hangouts people were mature at even got harassed and snuffed out.

Not dying. Just changing. It's been doing that for 60 years.

It survived the 80s. If it can survive the 80s it will survive anything. Gawd, were those miserable years for motorheads.

I agree. I had someone ask me if I go to Gandy. I told them no. They asked me if I go to Quaker Steak. I told them no. They asked me why... I told them to many problems and I'm not one to be into problems or be around them. Over the years things have changed... drastically. I no longer attend meets. I basically have excluded myself from the scene although I'm still into the scene. I actually think thats the reason why I've had a hard time hanging out with people around here. Ever since I moved out here from Orlando in the last 2 yrs I've only met a few people... and I can count them on both my hands which thats just a few people. Most of the time I'm home, work on my car and thats it. Would be nice to hang out with some people that can relate to the samethings I'm into but its hard finding the "mature" ones within the pack.

Word on the street is that the laws are going to get VERY MUCH stiffer here pretty soon.

Heres a quote from someone else:

From what I gather it was just a thought by a group. So happens that most of the guys I know that are involved are Crist supporters and have his ear. Money talks ya know. There's a group called the CTST (Community Traffic Safety Teams). Most all major metro areas have them. It's comprised of local law enforcement, DOT officials, city leaders, etc... These guys proposed to "step up" the penalties related to street racing calling for mandatory jail time and to rewrite statutes to make it much less vague. I'm not sure where it stands as of now but since the bay area ranks so high for street racing, the gov't is taking it more seriously now.

There's already a bunch of laws in place as it stands now but as you know, an actual "street racing" citation is rare because the laws are so vague. They always have to stick you with something else and try to get you to admit to racing. The idea was IMO to make sticking someone with a racing ticket much easier and to have the penalties be more harsh.
This is the reason that I dont race anymore on Sat. nights. I just go to the bar, get shitfaced and drive home. The penalties arent as harsh.

Saturday nights used to be fun with miami subs, setzers show, gandy, 78th, meridian, etc. then to many ricers started doing a lot of stupid things so they had to crack down. Now on saturdays nights i usually go drinking with friends or ride the bike, cops dont give the bikes that hard of a time when they bust our spots if they ever do, if i do something car related its either the track or cruise over to old town and check out all the cars........

ehh Ocala isin't any diffrent. Its basicaly the same thing here the people who ruin the fun are the ricers and the people who don't race and just come out to start fights. I drive a honda and a bike, and hang out with mostly the domestic guys. lol we stay away from the rice patties(sp?)

Anymore it's just a joke.
