First Car
Well its cool that your dad is paying the larger portion, very good idea.
I would. Insurance is cheaper. Insurance quote for a newbie ran $8,600 annually for me when i was 18 years old on a BMW 330ci. Brand new WRX ran $5,200 as i was quoted. My parents put down a deposit for a 1999 corvette and a boxster, but i couldnt get it ONLY because insurance rate was far too much.
Like i said in the past, the car can be paid off, insurance can't. So if you are just thinking about the total cost of the car to own it, think again.

Evo. Yes I am biased to Mitsubishi.
I think you would be safer with the AWD over the RWD, especially for your first car.

okay..this guy..got his brand new Z33 when he was 23 or 24..
doesn't work that much..yet dumps a ton of money on it..maximumsportZ
he's got a beautiful car..loaded w/ the best bolt on money can buy..and a turbo kit in the works...but i heard that he couldn't drive the car home when he first got it..cuz he didnt know how to drive stick..ahh ITS A TRACK MODEL!!
thing is..i know this other guy..around 19 yrs old..worked his ass off to buy a S2000..
did some moderate upgrades [CAI..mild suspension work..some nice wheels] and he stomped the Z..
now..the thing that kinda ticks me off a lil bit is how the Z guy...his parents bought his lil bro a brand spankin new G35 coupe..highest model..and he is only 16!!
i hate to see nice cars not working at full potential..
but on the lighter side..if he wrecks it..ill get a big brake upgrade!

Either one of those cars would be good. The evo might be a little better on gas if you baby it around town.
It's cool you have that deal with your folks. Whichever one you get, my recommendation is to start autoxing. You'll learn how to really control the car, get your speed jones take care of safely and off the streets, not to mention it's one of the most fun things you can do with your car.

well if my parents had enough money to get me either of these cars, I'd try and talk them into going to motorex and getting me an R-32 skyline.... then laugh at people from the left lane driver side to driver side
i know these kids i went to school with theme. My ex gf dad did the same thing he said if she got good grades he would by here a car well he did. a very nice used 350z. I dont recommend a rwd drive vehicle. Dont be like your brother get the evo.

sorry motorex can no longer import skyRHINES buddy, and while ur laughing at people ur slamming into the person into the car in front of you, and since ur so young and un-experienced you don't have good reaction time. and OOOOOO an r32 wow go to fever they have a nice one there, if anything get a silvia or 240 and get a syline motor and have them swap it, but have fun because no stock skyline is going to beat alot of the cars around here, only thing with the skyline is they CAN be built up high with bolt on shit and what not they don't come stock with THAT MUCH power, shit a vette z06 can waste a stock skyrhine. why not get one of those.

It's not all that hard to have a fast nice car at a young age. I'm 18 years old and my 1st car was a pos 92 350ci firebird that i payed for and kept for 3 months. I sold that and bought a 1996 gsxr 750 and then traded that for a 2002 camaro z28 and i took over payments on an 04 gsxr 750. I have had a few tickets, but 0 accidents and I go to the track on a regular basis. All of this I have payed for, but i'm not going to hate on this kid because he is lucky. Just pick what you want and be careful with it. Oh yea I'd pick the 350z just because I don't like the way the Evo looks
