Bring it to about 2800 RPM's, slip the shifter into neutral, blip the gas and slide it into the next gear. As long as you aren't grinding when shifting, you're actually doing more good for your car than bad. It won't hurt the tranny (again if no grinding) but you're saving your clutch. It was the perfect thing to get me to think about driving again after driving stick for so many years.

nah, the only time its bad for the synchro's is if they are making noise. Sometimes if you don't get the RPM's right it will either grind or you'll hear a whirring sound as the synchro's match speed. That will wear them out, but if the RPM's are right and it slides right in, its fine.
