Question for the Import guys
"This is obviously the neverending question. However I have a solution. Seeing how most of us know each other or at very least know of each other vote in 5 domestics and 5 imports to challenge each other to see what is the best all around. Drag racing, road corse, gas mileage, looks, and all around useability. Admins vote on looks and useability. The rest the numbers can tell us. Basically like the Sport Car Mag challenge. Hell do this once a year just for the fun of it. "
I have thought about this in the past, and I think it's a great idea. We could run back to back events with a scott sponsored track day. I think BMP has a oval that could be configured into a small road course. The alternative is to sign-up for a drivers event at Sebring. Long drive + 275.00 = low turn out.
I would participate in this in a heart beat. We could probably set-up something and make it happen during the next track event... not the one in Jan.

Im a import guy. I love imports. I dont really like domestic's that much but i admit when a domestic is the shit. Like the new svt cobra. I would give up my import anyday to pimp one of those.
Ok back to the topic. The reason why i like imports and making them go faster is like the same reason as everyone else. I want to be differnt. WHY u might ask. Every one has a honda, toyota, etc. But u can add little money and hook ur car up to stand out from the crowd. With domestics its the same way just that i cant afford a 18miles per gallon. Or even less. A import saves money plus u can still experience the thrill of going fast. Yet they might not have a might roar. U can spend hrs listen to a 4 cyclinder exhaust. with a v8 u can its lovely.
I consider dropping a turbo and rebuild a HONDA motor cheaper than buying a new svt cobra in the short and long wrong. People buy what they can afford, that it.

you cant afford 18 miles per gallon but you can afford more expencive insurance driving your integra
an import saves you money, but u have to drop down <2 g's to be equal with your slower v8's, and when you add that turbo you lose that good gas milage you were talking about :bbb: :bbb:

No, I was just thinking maybe we could line up our cars. You know, quit talking about hypotheticals and integras with 25 thousand dollars invested, and race the cars we really truly have. I have a 139k mile stock long block (not only have the valve covers never been off, it's the motor that came in the car from the factory
). To listen to your posts, the only thing imports have going for them is weight, I don't know if that's really a good bragging point, but whatever. I'll probably have the heaviest domestic there, so you have nothing to worry about

What about gas mileage, and reliability, good looks and fun to drive.

Please don't start the reliability deal again

Turbos actually improve gas mileage...
I dont think we should have votes for looks, because everyone has different tastes. Some people like SRT4s, Magnums, Titans, 1G DSMs, etc. etc. Besides, some people like me wouldnt mind sacrificing looks for performance (SRT4, turbo Caravan, Volvo, Sprint turbo, 1G DSM, blah blah blah) which would defeat that person
