Default Question for the Import guys

I've always wondered, how many of you on TR are of the opinion that it's easier to get an Import to go fast over a Domestic? I've heard a few people like Ron aka qitstrn, say that they do it because they wanted to be different and go the hard route. I really wanted to know how many people actually believe it's easier? Please try to keep this civil as I was not meaning to start a flamefest, just wanted to get a general feel of everyones opinions.

I'm sure everyone can see where I stand on the issue.

I could do either route.I just prefer the sound of a turbo whine over a deep v8 or rotary.

You can put a turbo on either a V8 or rotary.

You can!?

Personally, I've always thought it was easier to do on engines imported from Canada.

Anyone who says it's easier is out of his/her mind.

There are many many reasons. Easier is not one of them.

depends, ron and bigbadbuick's friend had a crx with a stock 1.6(130 crank HP) with a 100 shot and slicks, ran 12.4 or 12.6. that seems very easy.

but i do agree it is easier to make a v8 fast. but people like the challenge of making a 4cyl faster than cars with twice the cylinders. you could buy a z06, put heads, cam, lid, exhaust and be low 11's and call it a day. or you can challenge yourself make a slow car into a faster car than the z06.(just an example)

one route doesnt take alot of time or knowledge, and one route takes alot of time and knowledge.

Are Camaros considered Import or Domestic?

For Hondas, it's definitely more expensive to make them faster than Domestics. It usually cost much more and gets you no where. For FI cars, it really depends on the cost of the parts.

Not only are domestic perf. parts cheaper, they start out with an advantage of DISPLACEMENT and RWD. However, I drive a Honduh because of insurance, gas mileage, aesthetics, and so-called "reliability". The last two are purely subjective so no need for anyone to argue that point.
