I see people out there spending money on the car to improve it … If you spend half that effort just working on your driving skills, making you and the car work together as a team, then you’ll go faster – period. To make the car go a second faster on the track takes a lot more energy and money than making yourself drive it one second faster.

that we do go to the track.

that we get harrased when we have food, drink and/or receipt in hand at an establishment where we meet to talk cars.

that we get pulled over for exhaust systems that they cannot even prove goes over the decibel law.

that they profile us. i have a friend who is a l.e.o. who was profiled in his mustang and pulled over and who was read a riot act by the cop until he pulled his badge. he then proceeded to read that guy the riot act.

that i have been almost bumped by a cop on 275N to go faster just so he could get me.

to come out and film the cops when they don't know they are being filmed and watch how they treat drivers on a general basis.

the unwarrented threats we receive.

uhh i drive a bright ass orange mustang with a saleen spoiler so the thing sticks out. i dont seem to have that problem. i think attitude accounts for alot. sure there are cops with chips and citizens as well but i still think it comes down to attitude. cops are just doing what they are told like robots and street racing endangers innocent people. you wouldnt sky dive in to time square would you. why cause there are people there and that is not the place. the street is a public place used by everyone and not the place for any kind of competion.

Oh well, doesn't affect me ... I don't "street race", I ocassionally go at it with someone from a stop light, but other than that I drive like an old lady, but I guess I'm still likely to lose my license for a year even if I do that.

It's an illegal act that has been ignored by a lot of us for a long time, but now they are going to enforce it strongly, I guess it was just a matter of time.

loss of license will work fine i imagine. but i guess there are always people that are gonna do what they want regaurdless of public safety. i think it is a selfish act and repercussions should be stiff. may be some education and examples on how it can go bad would help. but getting people to watch them and and learn is a different story. couple nights in jail would fix some of these "kids" out here doing this shit.

The part that I can't get over is how you read stories on TR all the time about stupid ricers passing in the emergency lane, almost getting in crashes all the time, and doing other stupid dangerous things. Everyone in here says how stupid they are, yet when laws are passed because of this same stupidity, everyone says the cops are assholes, and the politicians don't know what they are talking about. People, realize that the politicians phones are ringing off the hook with phone calls from the voting public complaining about the same things we complain about, they have to do something. I don't know if it's the import scene, the movie, or just society at large's new attitude, but it ain't like it was, and it's getting worse, not better. Just be thankful we live within driving distance of two tracks, there's other people that have to drive alot further
