I really think the biggest problem with the RX8 is that people expect it to be the new version of the RX7 because the name is incremental. The reality is that the RX7 was very light and small and the RX8 is failry heavy and large. By making a very different car and using a very similar name, they've clouded their branding. I think mazda would have been better served by calling it the RS1 or RXS1 (S for sedan).

It's 12 inches shorter in length, 5 inches shorter in height, and only has half an inch less track width. Interior is bigger in the G35 by an inch or 2 in each catagory, but it's also a bigger car, and weighs 350 lbs more.
Compared with an STi, 2 inches longer, 4 inches shorter in height, half inch MORE track width, and 200 lbs lighter. Interiors are just basically equal, give or take ~1" in certain areas going to one or the other.

the car is so highly priced because they have to make a profit on it somehow.. people hardly understood the rx7, how will they understand the rx8.. and if they even have the money to buy it in the first place they'll have enough money to fix it up, as it is with most other cars... its all in preference and everything has potential.. high standards for comfortable interior, attractive looks.. if you cant appreciate it then walk away.. highly engineered and technical.. no matter what youll see it on the streets and be disgusted and rude toward the driver and car and be judged as you present yourself. wont ever take the time to understand that possibly it is worth your time. but if youre so closed minded about it.. why waste your time arguing about something that is all opinion based.. you fail to take in the information that these people are presenting to accurately make your decision..

it being slow is not an opinion...it is most certainly fact...mazda lying about the specs to try to sell it...is most certainly a fact. if it was highly engineered, they would have made it a 3 rotor or turboed and not worried about what the damn specs were. and yes it is about preference...i prefer not to buy a car that is over priced and under powered significantly.

thats all up to you.. it may be slow, you dont know if that was just an honest mistake, the dealerships made up for it offering to take it back.. it is a new car, you dont just slap a turbo on it and sell it like that without doing tests which is going to take more money meaning the price is still going to increase..
some people will buy it for performance, others for a daily driver, its whatever they want.. honda's are slow as fuck until you put shit on it.. why cant you do the same for the rx8 rather than eliminating it immediately just because it doesnt measure up to your expectations right off the lot.. you can easily fix all of that.. but quite possibly mazda is not directing this car, right now, toward the performance people.. seeing how it is 4 seats and 4 doors... many options and standard features that increase weight an obvious counter act for speed that im sure the engineers of this car are smart enough to notice.. with success they'll be able to make it much better as it is with other cars..

dont get me wrong, the RX8 wont be bashed by me, but a civic going fast doesnt do it for me at all #1 and #2 what the hell does it matter? a civic cost nearly half of an rx8! i like the interior a a good deal on the rx8, and the exterior... but the power doesnt do it for me, mods or not..... ill stick with the STi > RX8 on this one

of course AWD is an ideal thing for me.. stupid honda's that are cheap who cares about them.. but people who do have enough money to buy the rx8 in the first place, im sure they have enough money to mod it.. its a nice car, id love to have it, itd be fun to drive and drift/spin out in.. i just think people shouldnt think of it as a lost, beaten, stupid child.. shunning it away.. of course, its all a matter of preference for a person.. so.. who cares
