There are weld in panels made from mild steel, forget who makes them, but they are around.

And the difference between paying someone for the job and buying a welder and doing it yourself is personal experience and knowledge to be gained by doing it yourself, not to mention a welder in your garage when it's all said and done. Be prepared to pay someone more than what an entry level welder would cost.

And as far as aluminim interior... I've already got the rear bulkhead and that's about the extent of tin on the interior (I've got almost all the stock interior to put back into the car) - but I'm thinking I may go with the door panels if I can't find a nice set later (black or black/grey)... But my interests on that site more pertain to under-hood & trunk...

Fender Panels ($95/pair):

Firewall Cover w/o stock holes ($30):

Trunk Floor Liner ($70):

Solves SEVERAL of my "goals" for right about $250 shipped

I've been in contact with Scott, the owner/fabricator, and I've just emailed him to ask if he would be able to make these available in Mild Steel - or if he just really recommends riveting them on.

Personally, not sure I'd want the riveted look underhood. Probably prefer the welded look myself.

For a hobbyist (automotive) there is nothing that a 115v wire welder wont do. Miller / Lincoln is like Ford or Chevy thet both make good products. I am leanin towards a Lincoln because the sell'em at Home Depot and Lowes and easier to warranty if any issues.
I would recommend to get the biggest amp 115v (130-140) machine made for durability as well as adjustability. Some of the smaller ones dont have as many heat range adjustments than the bigger amp ones do.
Also some of the cheaper model will only run flux core, you want to be able to run gas. Much cleaner welds

^ Cochese had a 115v welder at his old shop. I couldn't get it hot enough to weld a ball to a hitch receiver. I've never had any problems with my Miller...
