Ball and hitch is both more than a 3/16 - 1/4 inch. That machine is very nice but way more than a hobbyist would even need. A whole lot more money too. When you need to weld something heavier than what machine calls for just pre- heat with a torch and save a grand or two.

Josh,
I can make them out of steel too. The price for the steel ones are $105 a set. The steel ones cost more to make. If you want steel just let me knoe if you want the bead rolls in them or not.
Scott
He makes them out of MS for a small price increase as well

Josh do a search on the corral, there was a guy selling them for a fox for cheap. I cant remember his name but several people used them and said they were nice. When Tommy gets done with my welder and I get done with school/test (one more week of school and a couple test) I can come over and show you how to weld it up. Granted I am not a pro by any stretch of the imagination I welded my whole trunk/subframes/wild ride upper/lower kits and all the other welding on my car (and it hasnt fallen apart yet)lol!!

The guy on corral that I bought mine from his name was V6Sprout, he is out of Canada. I know for a fact I have seen a few people on the DIY forums on turbomustangs.com weld aluminum to mild steel. It didnt look like a great bead, but it held up with the rigors of the charge pipe. Actually to come to think about it, the guy was welding aluminum pipe to a flex exhaust.

If you plan on buying a welder, and want to buy new, the miller 140 with autoset is pretty sweet. I plan on buying this welder for myself. Its like the Ronco food dehydrator of welders. Set it and forget it.
