why do you guys drift?
Like I said in one of my replies, the only time I've seen things really broken in drifting is when they were already weak (original on an old car) or someone hit something. If you've broken something durng drifting, your car probably isn't properly set up for ANY motorsport.
I don't understand why you people build your cars if you're not going to do anything with them... I already said that. It makes no sense to me, but to each their own.

An American thing ?

So F1 in EUROPE and the countless racing series across the world do not use "hard evidence" ? It would be easier to say drifting is the only motorsport I can think of that does not use "hard evidence". Heck tractor pulling uses "hard evidence" to record times.
Drifting is not so popular for the reasons I listed plus it has no corporate backing.
As far as the new discussion regrading tearing up a car I have read numerous people bitching about how their cars now creak and are not as tight after a fair amount of drifting.
All of the math replies are hilarious and I do not see the relevance to the discussion.

Auto-x, road race, and drag will do the same to your car (creaking, etc) and worse. Seriously... don't build a car for motorsport if you're afraid of hurting it in some way.

Holy shit corporate sponsored cars ! Whoa ! And two of them ? :o I would hope they would have at least a few sponsored cars.
Sorry I forgot to be more specific I forgot where I was, most people consider corporate backing in regards to the series or sanctioning bodies not individual cars.
You know like Powerade sponsors the entire NHRA series and Nextel sponsors Nascar, etc, etc..
Now feel free to add your much anticipated .02...

NHRA= 1953
NASCAR= 1948
D1 Gran Prix First USA event= 2003
SCCA First Drift Event= 2004
Drifitngs first "national" series= Yet to happen.
I think Nascar and NHRA have 50 years on DRIFTING..... The fact that GM and Chrysler have already jumped on the bandwagon in the first 2 years of a new sport is jaw-dropping!
Check back here in 50 years, and see where Drifting has gone.
There is your "much Anticipated" .02
