Who said anything about $30 frame slider? Of course the cheap frame sliders like (vortex, shogun etc) Will usually end up bending bolts. I am talking about a high quality slider with a mushroom tip, like woodcraft. They also sell frame sliders with huge pads on the end, Those are bulky but protect better.

Frame rails have there purpose, and they are good for slow stunting drops. The pegs are just too long. In a high speed slide the longer metal will bend easier, even with the reinforcement. Metal is stronger then aluminum, that bar could push into a frame.

When a bike crashes and slides you want the bike as low as possible on it side so it doesnt kick up.
