if you search around those boards, you will see where some guys said he was talking to his brother and he said the bike had been having tranny trouble. sometime popping out of gear when ridden hard. the black marks didn't make sense to anyone.

from everything I've read there was nothing any more unsafe about this corner than any other corner. it was a nice normal turn. his bike only ended up on the side of the road, the guys riding up expected to find him near the bike.

everything points to this just being a very sad freak thing. he wasn't pushing over his head, and had been down the road before.

Well said John, and I completely agree. Anyone who knew Raul well enough to know would tell you that he never rode faster than he felt comfortable doing so. He was very familiar with this stretch of road (which I might add is very wide) so to say he was asking for trouble couldn't be farther from the truth.

For the record, I was NOT saying that he was asking for trouble. I was quoting "It wasn't untill we reached one particular section that he started to "turn it up" a bit." I know Raul doesn't ride 'stupid' or "faster than he felt comfortable doing so", but I was saying that it does show that every rider needs to be more careful than they think that they need to be. Every motorcycle can get away from you, and the mountain roads can be deceptive. I still wish that this thread didn't have to come about. Ride safe everyone.

From the read it sounds like something went wrong with his bike at the wrong time. Best wishes to his friends/family.

John, you did the best you could for Raul. I feel so bad, what a great person he was so very positive could make you laugh, give you tips anything! Fun to ride with very safe rider, I always trust riding with him. It had to have been the bike it makes sense now. Again, Raul fly with the angels are dear friend.
