A good reminder that no matter how good you are, or how good you think you are, you will go down. Only a matter of when, where, and how hard. Im sure he was so pumped with adrenaline, that he didnt feel a thing. Great way to go out if you think about it, we could only be so fortunate.

Myself and at least 1 other member here have witnessed a death 1st hand on a bike. Trust me, it's NOT a good way to go out. There is absolutely no "glory" to it.......

+1

Witness it before and not something that will go away in the back of my mind. Tho, he did love to ride and we should respect that.

I'm speechless. I rode with Raul on September 4, 2006, Labor Day. We rode "Hillside" just north of Ocala with Kawie636 and Snook. Raul was a cool guy. Several riders I've met have been down. A young guy went down on the return trip of a N Run, not a mile from Shamrock's. Another ride was canceled on Martin Luther King, Jr. day due to a female rider going down on her way to the meet-up place. Another rider on a white GSX-R went down on the N Run that I was on.

Raul was as accomplished a rider as there could be on the street. He was a regular guy with extraordinary riding talent and skill. It is a shame that a rider like him would fall victim to a mechanical fault on his bike.

Raul was cool. He was cool to everyone.

Raul, it was a pleasure riding with you.

I don't even know how to feel right now.... I just found out about this, I'm reading these posts and I started to cry.... I don't have enough words to describe Raul, he lived a few blocks from me here on Linden, He used to bring his truck to me at Crystal when i worked there, and he would hang out for a while and shoot the shit, that was the first time i saw that awesome camera he had, and i was stunned.....Because i too am into photography... Then he brought the truck to me at my house to do some work on it and we hung out for a while and talked about riding, it was awesome, he was the most down to earth talented rider i had ever met, he had a real liking for my old GPZ, and asked me why i had it garaged, when i should be riding it, I told him i burnt the engine on it, and he said so?? Get her going, So i thought about what he said and i did, put an engine in it and as soon as i was done, i rode it straight to his house LOL in a pair of shorts, torn T-shirt and sandals.... Of course the grin on his face when he saw the bike was speechless, but he also gave me shit for not wearing gear. Since that day we talked he motivated me to ride safer, and i bought gloves and a riding jacket based on his opinion, because i trusted Raul, as a friend, as a rider, as a family man. words will not describe this loss, to his family or his friends... I'm going to miss him, One of the only guys who would stick up for my sorry ass on these forums... I hope his wife and kids are coping with this as well as they can...

God I can't believe this happened, why do the good die young!!!

Raul, Pete misses you man, there's no doubt where you have gone... I only pray when i die i lived a good enough life to meet you again and shake your hand....

R.I.P.
