We've all been on the forums reading all the beautiful comments you guys have left. I've never imagine how tight of a family you guys are. We all want to thank you and it was great to know that Raul has helped and touched so many. He was a great person and a great rider. It's tragic and unfortunately, tragedy is a part of life, but it's people like you all that allows this family to see beyond that and look in the good he offered. Thank you all again and it was a great effort in putting up a collection like this for his wife and kids. You guys are awesome. If anyone needs any information from me as far as address or whatever, my email address is padrone_99@yahoo.com.

Katalystxxls, I did get the pleasure of talking to you a bit. I am his sister's husband and it was great to have you come by and pay your respect. The family still talks about that. Also, Howard, if you're on this forum, thank you as well. Frankie and Brandon, thanks for coming out as well.

EastTNriders,

If you can only see the impact you all had on Raul's wife, Shelby. She broke down in tears when she saw the amount you guys put together to donate to her. The family is extremely grateful and I don't know if I can ever stop saying "Thank You."

We haven't really put much thought into it, but we are planning to sell all his cycling equipment. He has two bikes, a two bike trailer, an abundant amount of helmets and leathers, lots of excessive parts, some sort of tire changing equipment, some tire stands, etc. If any of you all have any ideas on how we can sell this as opposed to placing each item on eBay, would really be helpful. I can take pictures of everything he has and well, we can go from there. Again, my email address is padrone_99@yahoo.com. Any ideas, please let me know.

Again, thank you all for your contributions, you guys will never be forgotten. His wife has these links on her favorites now. I'm sure she would like to say something later on when she calms down a bit.

You guys remember when he did that write up on fighting a properly mounted tag ticket a while back? I printed that out and showed everyone at work as it was one of the funniest write ups about traffic court I have ever read. I think he even got it published somewhere maybe? Did just about everything but challenge whether or not the officer was fit for duty after he couldn't read the license plate from the required distance in a well lit court room!

A truly special individual! We will all find out over and over again how big of a hole his passing has made in this world. From the MotoGP and WSB updates to the ticket antics to the riding technique threads. He really helped keep this place alive and interesting for a long time.

great raul posts...

Raced a harley...

And WON... WTF!

I raced a Harley today and after some really hard riding I managed
to PASS the guy. I was riding on one of those really, really
twisting sections of mountain road with no straight sections to
speak of and where most of the bends have warning signs that
say "MAX SPEED 30 MPH".

I knew if I was going to pass one of those monsters with those
big-cubic-inch motors, it would have to be a place like this where
handling and rider skill are more important than horsepower alone.

I saw the guy up ahead as I exited one of the turns and knew I could
catch him, but it wouldn't be easy. I concentrated on my braking and
cornering. Three corners later, I was on his mudguard. Catching him
was one thing; passing him would prove to be another.

Two corners later, I pulled up next to him as we sailed down the
mountain. I think he was shocked to see me next to him, as I nearly
got by him before he could recover. Next corner, same thing. I'd
manage to pull up next to him as we started to enter the corners but
when we came out he'd get on the throttle and out-power me. His
horsepower was almost too much to overcome, but this only made me
more determined than ever.

My only hope was to out-brake him. I held off squeezing the lever
until the last instant. I kept my nerve while he lost his. In an
instant I was by him. Corner after corner, I could hear the roar of
his engine as he struggled to keep up. Three more miles to go before
the road straightens out and he would pass me for good.

But now I was in the lead and he would no longer hold me back. I
stretched out my lead and by the time we reached the bottom of the
canyon, he was more than a full corner behind. I could no longer see
him in my rear-view mirror.

Once the road did straighten out, it seemed like it took miles
before he passed me, but it was probably just a few hundred yards. I
was no match for that kind of horsepower, but it was done. In the
tightest section of road, where bravery and skill count for more
than horsepower and deep pockets, I had passed him. Though it was
not easy, I had won the race to the bottom of the mountain and I had
preserved the proud tradition of one of the best bits of Brit iron.

I will always remember that moment. I don't think I've ever pedaled
so hard in my life.

I remember reading some of his helmet reviews, and looking at his helmet collection wondering: Why would anyone need that many helmets?!?

why is that sad? and bike's sure as hell arn't the one thing he enjoyed. i think anyone that knew him will tell you he enjoyed everyday and just about everything in his days, from his wife and kids, to taking pics, to fighting cops over stupid tickets. where the rest of us would hate that. i get the feeling he enjoyed every min of it. or better said, had fun with it.

on a sad note for me, i tried searching his old posts to find the one that i liked and i think said the most about him. but TR is set up to only allow you to go back 50 posts. the one i was looking for must have been way longer.

If you're looking for a specific post give me as many details about it as you can and I can try to find it for you.
