Has anyone seen or heard of these?
If lane splitting were to be made legal it would have to be mandatory that motorcyclists carried insurance, because they'd be fucking up car doors left and right. And thats not even saying anyhting about the poor unlucky SOB who's hauling ass through a 'traffic jam' and a car decides to switch lanes in front of them.
Why do I have a feeling the same types of people who call lane splitting safe are the typed of people you read Rider Down threads about doing double the speed limit through a red light? Its a public road, not a stunt course, guys. Minimize your risk everywhere everyday and you might just survive your tenure on your motorcycle.

I bet the same people that think U-Turns are safe are the ones you read about splattered all over the inside of their cars because they ran off the road doing 100+ mph through traffic while trying to drift!
Spoke too soon... A girl backed into my f'ing car today... Had no f'ing insurance... This makes 3 f'ing people to hit me in 6 months.
This is why i don't carry in my car.... I'd f'ing shoot someone.

LOL... That is like saying U-Turns are stunt driving because they are illegal in most parts of the country. I guess everyone that has ever done a U-Turn in Florida is a wreckless driver, right!?! Just think, if U-Turns were legal in Chicago, there would be ricers drifting their cars all over the streets of Chicago! Nobody would be safe!

I had no idea U Turns were illegal in most of the country. That's crazy!
I watched this guy Keith I know on his 636 split lanes down 19 last night. Flew right past me with a girl on the back of his bike wearing white cotton shorts & sandals. He almost died a few cars ahead of me. Like you said, a car decides to change lanes & the bike is done for.

what do you think is safer, you riding your bike between some stopped cars on a wide ass interstate when you've judged it as safe or some old ass blue haired lady trying to make a U turn somewhere she's shouldn't because she doesn't have a clue or see over the steering wheel.
time and place for everything. and being that the state gave me a test which i passed, that means i understand and know how to drive. so i should be able to choise the time and place that both of them are safe. ie 3am, safe to make a u turn. rush hour, go up and make a left at a light. spliting lanes when traffic is moving slow on say dale mabry at 5pm.. bad idea. parked on a bridge at 5pm rush hour because someone chashed and people are outside of there cars bsing. safe, because i've been there before when i worked in st pete.
if i can't tell which one is safe and which isn't, then the test and training has failed all of YOU. because i damn sure will be doing a U turn. and i do split lanes when i feels its called for. but since that law says i can't, i have no training to know when the safe time is. now i don't crash shit, so your all ok, but who's to say the 17year old kid has any idea what he's going. because no one has trained him. he just got his shit, drove around a parking lot slowing and sent out into the wild to kill people.
blah

lane spliting being illegal didn't stop him from almost dieing did it. he just got lucky.
as said. the law only stops the guys that would be doing it right. dumb kids will still do it either. what good is the law really doing?

+1 my brotha! splitting lanes on 275 when traffic is going smooth, and splitting lanes to get through a traffic jam are 2 totally different things.
