Top Gear US
Okay I am going to give this a shot with an open mind.
So far same editing and oh no same stunts.
Honestly I think this show with dude what would happen would be a good mix.
And I'm trying not to miss the British accent.

I see people out there spending money on the car to improve it … If you spend half that effort just working on your driving skills, making you and the car work together as a team, then you’ll go faster – period. To make the car go a second faster on the track takes a lot more energy and money than making yourself drive it one second faster.

Okay also it sounds like they are reading a script. It. Is. Like. Every. Word. They. Say. When. Driving. The. Car. Has. Been. Scripted.

go back and look at the first series of "proper" top gear.. it sucked.. first episode of Australian version.. sucked. There was some unneeded to me explanation, but the show is not for me.. actually it's not for us. it's to bring a whole new audience into the fold.
Don't compare it to British top gear that's had 15 seasons to get their chemistry perfected. compare it to every other car show that has graced american airwaves. and then there is the "top gear curse" there are 5 regional top gears now and in every market one host does not make it past season one.
I see Promise in Tanner.. he just needs to try less hard and be natural.. Adam is a Funny Mf'er and I can relate to his New York Italian comedy style.. The Gentle "$#!T" with each shift was pretty funny.
from what I've seen the Moonshine run episode will be epic. as will the "finding a great american car" challenge. I don't know about the "toughest trucks in the toughest state" challenge Dodge vs. Cheby vs. Ford. as I have not seen any footage of that one.. I'm not going to drop spoilers but this episode needed to be more plain Jane to explain the format.
Like I said, compaired to EVERY other car show on the air.. it's a work of art. and for the sake of the unwashed masses I hope it stays on the air..

It seemed a little too drawn out. A little too "trying to be bad-assed", a little to... American.
For instance, the whole Viper/Cobra chase sequence. Way too drawn out, and way to "fake real world". Nothing at all like the real-road challenges that they do on Brit Top Gear.
And don't get me started on the 10 minutes of my life that was wasted watching a boring drag race between three Lamborghinis. Is the American audience really so unsophisticated that all they care about is top speed?
Come to think of it... this show was all flash. They focused on a bunch of supercars and didn't even do a review of anything even remotely affordable. Couldn't they have thrown in something cheap, fast and somewhat intersting... even American... a Cobalt SS, a Mustang GT, anything.
Maybe the rest of this season will get better? Maybe season 2 will be better if they make it that far.

Tanner is a good driver. Not much else. That's my opinion of him.
Many shows don't crossover well. If this one doesn't its no big.
It's like going to a McDonald's outside the US. The logo is the same and that's about it.
